Marshall Thundering Herd

The Thundering Herd covered the spread in all four of their 2025 games as underdogs and lost five of the eight they were favored in. Marshall football went 5-7 straight up and 7-5 against the line.

Four times underdogs, four covers

Marshall covered every game in which it got points in the 2025 regular season, 4-0; eleven other FBS teams also had a perfect underdog cover rate. Two of the four were outright wins at home: 48-24 over Old Dominion at +400 and 40-37 over Texas State at +115. The other two covered in defeat, 45-7 at Georgia getting 38.5 and 35-23 to James Madison getting 13.5. The three priced underdog games returned 4.15 units.

Favored, and losing

Laying points, the Herd were 3-5 straight up and 3-5 against the spread. The losses: 21-20 to Missouri State at -275, 54-51 at Louisiana at -120, 44-27 at Coastal Carolina at -270, 26-24 at App State at -185 and 24-19 to Georgia Southern at -425. One unit on Marshall as a favorite lost 3.81 over eight games; only two FBS teams lost more that way.

By month

October made the season: 2-1, 4.15 units, from the two home upsets. November undid most of it, 1-3 and 2.72 down. The 11 priced games ended 0.34 units up, with home games 2.32 ahead and road games 1.98 behind.

Marshall scored 30.75 points a game and allowed 30.25, and overs led seven to five.
