Packers vs Patriots Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Take the Patriots -3 at home against Green Bay. The total is a pass.
Every one of the 11 sportsbooks read at 21:48 UTC on 6 November has New England -3. Green Bay +3 is priced from -110 to +102 across them. On the moneyline the median is New England -169 and Green Bay +142. A book builds a margin into every pair of prices, an extra that makes the two add to more than 100%. With it taken out, the market gives New England a 60.3% chance to win and Green Bay 39.7%.
How New England by 5.58 is reached
The method for the side fits in one sentence. Take each team’s points differential per game, halve the gap between the two, and add 2.5 points to the home side. Last season New England outscored opponents by 10.0 a game and Green Bay by 1.82. That makes New England a 6.59-point favourite, an edge of 3.59 against the -3 on offer.
Eight games into this season, New England is +2.75 a game and Green Bay +0.88, and the same sum gives New England by 3.44. Weight the two seasons by games played and the number is New England by 5.58. The edge on that blend is 2.58. My threshold is two points, on last season and on the blend, both pointing the same way. Both clear it, so this is a bet.
This season so far
Both teams arrive 5-3. Records like that sit outside the method, so treat this section as context. New England is 3-0 at home: 20-3 over Pittsburgh, 45-17 over Las Vegas and 26-19 over the Jets. On the road it is 2-3, and the 35-6 loss at Jacksonville in Week 3 is the worst result either team has posted.
Green Bay has covered four straight. It beat Chicago 31-7 and Dallas 23-13, lost 20-17 at Detroit as a 4-point underdog, and beat Carolina 27-19 last week. Is that the best argument against us? It is, and I would rather name it than hide it. New England covered as a 7-point road underdog in a 29-26 win at Buffalo, and failed to cover at -7 in Miami on 24-19.
New England at home, Green Bay on the road
The method uses full-season numbers, so it leaves these splits out. Neutral-site games are excluded from both. Last season New England went 6-3 at home, scoring 28.2 a game and allowing 18.2. Green Bay went 4-4-1 on the road, scoring 23.9 and allowing 24.1.
The oddity is New England’s road record. The Patriots went 8-0 away from home in 2025, scoring 29.5 a game, and played their best football there. This season Green Bay is 2-2 on the road: a 39-22 loss at Minnesota, wins of 20-17 at the Jets and 17-14 at Tampa Bay, and the 20-17 loss at Detroit. None of those four is a rout in Green Bay’s favour.
The season around it
New England went 14-3 in 2025 with a +170 point differential, 7-3 in one-score games and 5-1 in the AFC East. In the playoffs it beat the Chargers 16-3 and Houston 28-16 at home and won 10-7 at Denver. Then it lost the Super Bowl 29-13 to Seattle in Santa Clara.
Green Bay went 9-7-1 with a +31 differential and 4-5-1 in one-score games. Its season ended with a 31-27 Wild Card loss at Chicago. The two teams have not met since the start of the 2025 season, so no meeting is inside our number.
Pick: Patriots -3
All 11 books have New England -3, read at 21:48 UTC on 6 November. The Green Bay side ranges from -110 to +102, so the price on New England is worth shopping for. Worst line to bet: Patriots -3.5. Green Bay was first quoted at +1.5 on 10 September. It was +2.5 on 3 November, +3.5 on 5 November and +3 on 6 November.
Personally, I read this season’s 3.44 as the soft spot. It sits close to the market’s three, and Green Bay’s covering run is real. Still, a team that went 14-3 and has not lost at home this season, priced only three points better than a 9-7-1 side, is the price I want. Give me New England.
What kills the bet
The line kills it first. New England is a bet at -3.58 or better, which means -3 and -3.5 qualify and -4 does not. Green Bay would only become the bet at +8.59 or better, and nothing on the board is close to that.
No absence changed this number. Read the final injury report and check the lineups before you bet. A late change at quarterback for either team is the news that sends us back to the method.
The total: no bet
For the total, each team’s expected points are the average of what it scores a game and what the other side allows. Last season gives Green Bay 20.9 and New England 25.0, a total of 45.9. This season gives 42.56, and the blend gives 44.83. Eight books have 44.5 and three have 45. That leaves edges on the over of 1.4 and 0.33, short of two on both.
The over would need 42.83 or lower, and the under 47.9 or higher. The total opened at 47.5 on 2 November and reached 44.5 on 6 November. Last season 10 of Green Bay’s 17 games and 11 of New England’s went over 44.5. This season 3 of Green Bay’s 8 have, along with 4 of New England’s. Either side of the total is a coin flip at this price, and I pass.
Every call on this page comes from the same rule: two seasons of results, a two-point threshold, and no bet when either season falls short of it. More cards are on our handicappers page. Pick: Patriots -3.
