Pick the Under 49.5 – 49ers vs Falcons prediction, odds and best picks
My 49ers vs Falcons prediction is the under 49.5. The side is a pass.
Watch Atlanta’s offence on its first two drives. San Francisco has held four of its six opponents this season to 14 points or fewer. If the Falcons stall early, this game stays in the 40s.
San Francisco 49ers at Atlanta Falcons kicks off Sunday 25 October 2026 at 1:00 pm ET. Across 11 US sportsbooks, read on 23 October at 21:10 UTC, the median is San Francisco -2.5 and a total of 49.5. Seven books have 49.5 and four have 50.
The prices and what they say
On the moneyline, the median has Atlanta at +125 and San Francisco at -147. A book builds in a margin, the extra that makes the two prices add to more than 100%. With that margin taken out, the market gives San Francisco a 57.2% chance to win and Atlanta 42.8%.
On the spread, nine books have San Francisco -2.5, one has -2 and one has -3. The price on the 49ers ranges from -120 to -106. I bet only the spread or the total, so the moneyline is context here.
How 46.62 is reached
The method for the total is short. Each team’s expected points are the average of what it scored a game and what the other side allowed a game. In 2025 San Francisco scored 25.7 a game and Atlanta allowed 23.6, so the 49ers come out at 24.65. Atlanta scored 20.8 and San Francisco allowed 21.8, so the Falcons come out at 21.3. Together that is 45.95.
The market has 49.5. That puts my 2025 number 3.55 points under it. My threshold is 2 points. Below that I pass, because a number built from season rates carries that much error on its own.
Six games of 2026 are played, so the bet has to clear the threshold twice. This season alone gives a total of 48.5, still under the market. Weight the two seasons by games played, 17 last season and six this one, and the total is 46.62. The edge on the weighted number is 2.88. Both clear 2.
This season so far
Records sit outside my number. San Francisco is 6-0, has scored 177 and has allowed 110. Atlanta is 2-4, has scored 142 and has allowed 153.
The 49ers’ six totals this season: 34, 48, 66, 38, 61 and 40. Two of those went over 49.5. The Falcons’ six: 33, 37, 49, 69, 53 and 54. Three went over 49.5. Atlanta’s last four games all went over their closing totals, and that is the real argument against me. It is also six games, and the method does not let six games outvote 17.
Atlanta at home, San Francisco on the road
My total uses full-season rates, so both halves below sit outside the method. These splits leave out neutral-site games.
In 2025 Atlanta went 4-4 at home, scoring 21.2 a game and allowing 25.8. San Francisco went 7-2 on the road, scoring 28.0 and allowing 21.6. Those two halves point higher than my number, and I won’t pretend they don’t.
This season Atlanta is 0-3 at home: beaten 34-3 by Carolina, 30-23 by Baltimore and 31-23 by Chicago. San Francisco is 2-0 on the road, winning 27-7 at the Rams and 32-29 at Seattle. Three home games and two road games are not a rate. The other halves, the 49ers at home (23.1 scored, 22.1 allowed in 2025) and the Falcons away (19.8 and 20.5), are left out too.
The season around it
San Francisco went 12-5 in 2025 with a +66 point difference. It was 5-1 in one-score games and 4-2 in the NFC West. In the playoffs it won 23-19 at Philadelphia in the Wild Card round, then lost 41-6 at Seattle in the Divisional round. The median total in its games was 47.
Atlanta went 8-9 with a -48 difference, 5-5 in one-score games and 3-3 in the NFC South, and missed the playoffs. Its median total was 45. Last season 11 of each team’s 17 games finished under 49.5.
The teams played once in 2025: Atlanta 10 at San Francisco 20, Week 7, 19 October 2025, in San Francisco. That game finished on 30 points, and it is inside my 2025 number. One game says little about this one.
Pick: Under 49.5
The bet is the under 49.5, with an edge of 3.55 on last season’s rates and 2.88 on the weighted number, against a threshold of 2. The line is the median of 11 books read on 23 October 2026 at 21:10 UTC. The four books at 50 offer the same bet at a better number.
This total opened at 47.5 on 11 September. It was 51.5 on 19 October, 48.5 early on 21 October and 50.5 later that day, and it sits at 49.5 now. My number has stayed at 46.62 through all of it.
What kills the bet
The price first. The under is a bet at 48.62 or above, so it holds at 49, 49.5 and 50 and is a pass at 48.5. The over would only become the bet at 43.95 or below.
Then the people. Read both teams’ injury reports and check the lineups before you bet. A late change at quarterback on either side is the thing that would make me read this page again.
No bet on 49ers vs Falcons against the spread
The method for the side: half the gap between the two teams’ per-game differentials, plus 2.5 points for home field. In 2025 San Francisco was +3.88 a game and Atlanta -2.82. That makes San Francisco a 0.85-point favourite. This season, at +11.17 and -1.83, the 49ers are 4-point favourites. The weighted number has San Francisco by 1.67.
Against San Francisco -2.5, the edge on Atlanta is 1.65 on 2025 and 0.83 weighted. Neither reaches 2. Atlanta becomes a bet at +3.67 or better. San Francisco would need to be getting +1.15 or better. The 49ers were -5.5 on 14 October and are -2.5 now. Neither number is a bet, and neither is this one.
Pick: under 49.5.
