Kraken vs Lightning Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet the Kraken at +200. Tampa Bay is the clear favourite in our number too, but the price leaves Seattle 5.1 points short of what we make it, and the bar is 5.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are -245 and the Seattle Kraken +200 at DraftKings. With the margin out, the market gives Tampa Bay 68.1% and Seattle 31.9%. Our number gives the Lightning 63.0% and the Kraken 37.0%. This is not a call that Seattle wins. It is a call that +200 pays more than a 37.0% chance is worth, and it clears our rule by a tenth of a point.
Building the 63.0%
One average makes our number: the home team’s 2025-26 home win rate and the visitor’s 2025-26 road loss rate, with an overtime or shootout win counted as a win and neutral-site games left out of both.
Tampa Bay went 25-14-1 at home, meaning 25 wins, 14 regulation losses and 1 loss after regulation. Over 40 games that is a 62.5% home win rate. One more Lightning game, a 6-5 shootout win over Boston at Raymond James Stadium on 1 February, is marked neutral-site by ESPN and sits in neither split. Seattle went 15-20-6 on the road and lost 26 of 41, a 63.4% road loss rate. The average is 63.0% for Tampa Bay.
The two halves almost match. The Lightning won 62.5% at home and the Kraken lost 63.4% away, so the method lands within a point of each. A Tampa Bay price near 68% asks for more than either record shows.
The margin is the cushion a book puts in both prices, so that together they come to more than 100%. At -245 and +200 they come to 104.3%. Remove it and the Lightning are 68.1%, the Kraken 31.9%.
The gap is 5.1 points, and a gap that thin can disappear with one move in the price. It also rests only on 2025-26: 40 Tampa Bay home games and 41 Seattle road games, no game from this season, nothing on either roster’s summer. On Tuesday the Kraken won 3-2 in a shootout in Philadelphia and the Lightning lost 4-1 to the Rangers in New York. Neither game is in the figures.
Tampa Bay at home, Seattle on the road
At home the Lightning scored 3.27 goals a game and allowed 2.75, a surplus of 0.52. On the road the Kraken scored 2.56 and allowed 3.37, outscored by 0.81 a game.
Tampa Bay scored more away from home and won a little less. The Lightning went 24-12-5 on the road, a 58.5% win rate over 41 games, and scored 3.73 a game there against 3.27 at home. The method reads only the home half. Seattle won fewer than half of its home games, going 19-17-5 for 46.3%, and scored 2.95 a game there while allowing 3.05.
Over 82 games the gap between the teams was wide. The Lightning finished 50-26-6 with 106 points and outscored opponents by 59. The Kraken finished 34-37-11 with 79 points and were outscored by 37. Tampa Bay lost a seven-game playoff series 4-3 to Montreal; Seattle missed the playoffs.
Where Seattle did hold up was in the tight ones. The Kraken went 13-5-11 in one-goal games, against Tampa Bay’s 15-10-6. Seattle won 8 of the 19 games that went past 60 minutes and Tampa Bay 10 of 16. The Lightning won 35 of their 50 wins by two goals or more; the Kraken did that in 21 of their 34.
The teams met twice in 2025-26 and split them. Tampa Bay won 6-2 in Seattle on 17 March. Seattle won 4-3 in overtime in Tampa on 26 March. Only the game in Tampa is in our number, as one of 40 Lightning home games and one of 41 Kraken road games. The game in Seattle is in neither half the method reads.
Pick: Kraken +200
Bet the Kraken on the moneyline at +200. The gap is 5.1 points toward Seattle against a 5-point threshold.
The line opened at Lightning -245 and Kraken +200 and was the same when it was read on 14 October 2026 at 15:56 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN.
What kills the bet
Almost any move. The Kraken are a bet whatever Tampa Bay is priced at only from +213 up, and +200 is shorter than that. At +200 the bet stands because of how the margin falls at -245. With the other price unchanged, Seattle at +195 or Tampa Bay at -240 would take the gap under 5. Check the price before you bet.
The other side needs a far bigger move. The Lightning become the bet only at -138 or longer, against -245 now.
Then there are the lineups, which this page knows nothing about for 15 October. Look at both before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 5.5, over -135 and under +114. The Lightning’s games went over 5.5 in 50 of 82 and the Kraken’s in 45 of 82. Tampa Bay’s home games averaged 6.02 goals and Seattle’s road games 5.93.
The two over rates are 61.0% and 54.9%, an average of 57.9%. The over at -135 is priced at 55.1% with the margin out. The gap is 2.8 points toward the over. Pass on the total.
On the puck line the Lightning are -1.5 at +105 and the Kraken +1.5 at -125, which is 46.8% and 53.2% without the margin. Tampa Bay won by two goals or more in 35 of 82 games. Seattle lost by two or more in 32 of 82. Averaged, Lightning -1.5 comes in 40.9% of the time against 46.8% priced, a gap of 5.9 points toward Kraken +1.5. Our method bets the moneyline only, so that is a lean and the same opinion as the pick. One bet on this game: the Kraken at +200.
