Brighton & Hove Albion vs Liverpool Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Back Liverpool to beat Brighton at Anfield. Our number has them 7.0 points above the market, past the 5-point threshold a bet needs.
DraftKings has Liverpool at +115, the draw at +290 and Brighton & Hove Albion at +210, read on 23 October at 21:29 UTC. A book builds in a margin so that its three prices add to more than 100%. Here that extra is 4.4%. With it removed, the market reads Liverpool 44.5%, the draw 24.6% and Brighton 30.9%.
Our prediction has Liverpool at 51.5%, the draw at 25.0% and Brighton at 23.5%. That puts Liverpool 7.0 points above the market and the draw 0.4 above. Brighton sit 7.4 points below. One outcome clears the line, and it is the home win.
How 51.5% is reached
Each side’s expected goals start from the league’s average goals at that venue. That figure is scaled by the side’s scoring rate at its venue and by the opponent’s conceding rate at the other venue, both measured against the league average. A Poisson model on the two expected-goal figures gives the home win, the draw and the away win. An outcome is a bet when our chance is at least 5 points above the market’s.
Liverpool have 3 home league games this season and Brighton 3 away. Both are under the 4 the method needs, so both clubs run on their 2025-26 venue records. Those are set against that season’s league averages over 380 games: 1.53 goals a game for the home side and 1.22 for the visitor.
Liverpool scored at home at 1.17 times the league’s home rate last season, and Brighton conceded away at 0.9 of it. That gives Liverpool 1.6 expected goals. Brighton’s away scoring was 0.95 of the visitor’s rate, and Liverpool conceded at home at 0.86 of it, which leaves Brighton 1.0. Those two figures produce our 51.5% for the home win. The market’s 44.5% prices Liverpool closer to a coin flip than the venue records do.
Liverpool at home, Brighton on the road
These are the two halves the method uses, from 2025-26. At Anfield, Liverpool went 10-6-3 (wins, draws, losses) in 19, scoring 1.79 a game and conceding 1.05. Brighton on the road went 5-5-9 in 19, scoring 1.16 and conceding 1.37.
The other two halves stay out of the number. Liverpool away last season were 7-3-9, scoring 1.53 and conceding 1.74. Brighton at home were 9-6-4, scoring 1.58 and conceding 1.05. Brighton’s strength last season was at their own ground. Sunday’s game is not there.
This season so far
This season’s early numbers point the other way, and none of them is in our number. Liverpool are 0-2-1 at Anfield, with 2 scored and 5 conceded: 0.67 and 1.67 a game. They are 3-1-0 away, 7 scored and 3 conceded.
Brighton have 23 goals in 7 league games. They are 3-1-0 at home with 13 scored and 1 conceded. Away they are 2-0-1, scoring 3.33 a game and conceding 1.33. Three games a venue is too few to describe either club, and the method does not use them. Once a side reaches 4, its current record takes over, and in our view this number will then move toward Brighton.
The table, this season and last
Seven games into 2026-27, Brighton are 3rd of 20 with 16 points from 5-1-1, 23 scored and 5 conceded. Liverpool are 5th with 12 points from 3-3-1, 9 scored and 8 conceded. The league this season has averaged 1.61 home goals and 1.29 away goals a game over 70 games.
Last season Liverpool finished 5th with 60 points from 17-9-12, scoring 63 and conceding 53. Brighton were 8th with 53 points from 14-11-13, scoring 52 and conceding 46. The method rests on that season’s venue splits. It does not use the final table.
Pick: Liverpool +115
Liverpool to win, at +115 on DraftKings, read 23 October 2026 at 21:29 UTC. Our 51.5% against the market’s 44.5% is a 7.0-point gap. The threshold is 5.
The bet rests on 19 home games for Liverpool and 19 away for Brighton, all from 2025-26. Brighton’s 23 goals in 7 games this season are the strongest argument against it. They are also outside the method, and 7 games prove nothing about the next one.
What kills the bet
The price. Liverpool remain a bet down to +106. Any shorter and the gap falls under 5 points, so the bet is off. The draw would become the bet at +379 or longer, against +290 now, and Brighton at +418 or longer, against +210. Each of those assumes the 4.4% margin holds.
The team sheets. This page carries no injury list and says nothing about who is available on 25 October. Check the lineups before you bet.
The sample. When Liverpool reach 4 home games and Brighton 4 away, the method switches to this season’s records. At current rates, in our view, that would cut into Liverpool’s number.
The total
The total is 3.5 goals, with the over at +130 and the under at -165. With the margin out, the market has the over at 41.1% and the under at 58.9%. Our number has the over at 26.4% and the under at 73.6%, a 14.7-point gap toward the under. The method never bets the goals, so this is reference only. Our chance of more than 2.5 goals is 48.2%.
Two of Liverpool’s 7 league games this season went over 3.5, and 4 of Brighton’s 7. Last season it was 11 of 38 for Liverpool and 7 of 38 for Brighton.
The last meetings
ESPN lists five meetings since November 2024, and the home side won all five. With Liverpool listed at home they won 2-1 on 2 November 2024, 2-0 on 13 December 2025 and 3-0 on 14 February 2026. With Brighton at home they won 3-2 on 19 May 2025 and 2-1 on 21 March 2026.
Five games carry no weight as a rate, and the method has no head-to-head term. The meetings are listed here as the record.
