Flames vs Ducks Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
No bet on the Ducks at -218. The price already holds everything our number sees: the two sit 0.2 points apart, and a bet needs 5.
The Anaheim Ducks are -218 and the Calgary Flames +180 at DraftKings. Take the margin out and the market gives Anaheim a 65.7% chance and Calgary 34.3%. Our number gives the Ducks 65.9%. The gap is 0.2 points toward Anaheim, and a side is a bet only when the gap reaches 5 points. Pass.
Where 65.9% comes from
The method fits in one clause: our home win chance is the average of the home team’s 2025-26 home win rate and the visitor’s 2025-26 road loss rate, with a win in overtime or a shootout counted as a win. Games at a neutral site are left out, and neither of these teams played one.
The Ducks went 24-13-4 at home: 24 wins, 13 regulation losses and 4 losses after regulation. That is a 58.5% home win rate over 41 games. The Flames went 11-26-4 on the road. They lost 30 of 41, a 73.2% road loss rate. The average is 65.9% for Anaheim, which leaves 34.1% for Calgary.
Most of that figure is Calgary’s doing. The Ducks’ home rate alone is 58.5%. It is the Flames’ 30 road losses in 41 games that carry the average past 65%.
The margin is what a book adds to both prices so that together they come to more than 100%. At -218 and +180 they come to 104.3%. With it removed, the Ducks are at 65.7% and the Flames at 34.3%.
A gap of 0.2 says the market has read the same two records and landed where we did. It does not prove either figure. Ours holds 41 Ducks home games and 41 Flames road games, all from 2025-26. Nothing from 2026-27 is in it, and nothing that happened to either roster over the summer.
Calgary on the road, Anaheim at home
The Flames on the road scored 2.24 goals a game and allowed 3.71. That is 1.47 goals a game the wrong way, over 41 games. At home they were another team: 23-13-5, a 56.1% win rate, with 2.93 scored and 2.61 allowed.
Anaheim’s home edge showed in the results more than in the goals. The Ducks at home scored 3.54 a game and allowed 3.49, a margin of 0.05, and still won 24 of 41. On the road they went 19-20-2, a 46.3% win rate, scoring 3.12 and allowing 3.54.
Over 82 games the Ducks finished 43-33-6 with 92 points while being outscored by 15. The Flames finished 34-39-9 with 77 points and were outscored by 47. In the playoffs Anaheim beat the Edmonton Oilers four games to two, then lost to the Vegas Golden Knights by the same count. Calgary did not play in them.
How does a team outscored by 15 reach 92 points? It wins the close ones. The Ducks went 24-6-6 in games decided by one goal and won 17 of the 23 they took past 60 minutes. The Flames went 14-6-9 by one goal and won 7 of their 16 past regulation.
The four meetings in 2025-26 went the same way. Anaheim won three, none of them in regulation: 4-3 in overtime in Calgary on 25 January, 3-2 in a shootout in Anaheim on 1 March and 3-2 in overtime in Calgary on 26 March. The Flames won 5-3 in Anaheim on 4 April. Four games are too few to carry a rate, and none of them enters our number.
Pick: No bet on the Ducks -218
Pass on the moneyline. Ours is 65.9% for Anaheim, the market’s is 65.7%, and the threshold is 5 points.
The line opened at Ducks -218 and Flames +180. It was the same when read on 12 October 2026 at 16:04 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN.
What would make it a bet
A long walk in either direction. The Ducks become a bet at -155 or better, whatever the Flames are priced at, and they are -218 now. The Flames become a bet at +244 or longer on the same terms, against +180 now.
Price is one unknown and the lineups are another. This page says nothing about who dresses for either team on 13 October. Check both lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 6.5, over +110 and under -130, and the two teams pull it in opposite directions. Ducks games went over 6.5 in 49 of 82. Flames games did it in 29 of 82. Anaheim’s home games averaged 7.03 goals and Calgary’s road games 5.95.
The over rates are 59.8% and 35.4%, and they average 47.6%. The over at +110 is priced at 45.7% with the margin removed. The gap is 1.9 points toward the over, under the 5-point bar. Pass on the total.
The puck line is where the two numbers part. The Ducks are -1.5 at +114 and the Flames +1.5 at -135, which is 44.9% and 55.1% once the margin is out. The same Ducks who went 24-6-6 in one-goal games won by two or more in only 19 of 82. The Flames lost by two or more in 33 of 82. Averaged, Ducks -1.5 lands 31.7% of the time and Flames +1.5 lands 68.3%, against 55.1% priced. That gap is 13.2 points. Our method bets the moneyline only, so this is a lean: Flames +1.5, at -135. The call on the game stays no bet on the Ducks at -218.
