Lightning vs Golden Knights Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet the Lightning at -105. The price has Vegas as a slight home favourite; our number has Tampa Bay winning 54.9% of the time.
The Vegas Golden Knights are -115 and the Tampa Bay Lightning -105 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 51.1% for Vegas and 48.9% for Tampa Bay. Our figures turn the favourite around, by 6.0 points.
How 54.9% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Games at a neutral site are in neither half. Tampa Bay had one: the 6-5 shootout win over Boston at Raymond James Stadium on 1 February, which is not in its road half.
The Golden Knights went 20-12-9 at T-Mobile Arena: 20 wins, 12 regulation losses and 9 after regulation, a 48.8% home win rate over 41 games. The Lightning went 24-12-5 on the road and lost 17 of 41, a 41.5% road loss rate. The midpoint is 45.1% for Vegas and 54.9% for Tampa Bay.
Nine of Vegas’s 21 home losses came after regulation. Overtime and shootout losses count as losses here, and they are a large part of why the home number sits under 50%.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -115 and -105 they come to 104.7%. Taken out, the Golden Knights are 51.1% and the Lightning 48.9%.
Every input is from 2025-26: 41 Vegas home games and 41 Tampa Bay road games. This season is not in the figures, and both teams have started well. Vegas is 8-2-0 and 5-1-0 at home, and beat Pittsburgh 6-2 on Saturday night. Tampa Bay is 6-2-0 and beat Vancouver 4-2 at home on Saturday afternoon. Both come in on two days off.
Vegas at home, Tampa Bay on the road
Over the full season the Golden Knights at home scored 3.56 a game and allowed 3.10, a surplus of 0.46. The Lightning on the road scored 3.73 and allowed 2.83, a surplus of 0.90. Tampa Bay travelled better than Vegas played at home.
The halves the method leaves out: Vegas on the road went 19-14-8, a 46.3% win rate, scoring 2.90 and allowing 3.00. Tampa Bay at home went 25-14-1, 62.5% over 40 games, scoring 3.27 and allowing 2.75.
Over the full season the Lightning were the stronger regular-season team. They went 50-26-6 with 106 points and outscored opponents by 59, then lost 4-3 to Montreal in the first round. Vegas went 39-26-17 with 95 points and outscored opponents by 15, then won four playoff series: Utah 4-2, Anaheim 4-2, Colorado 4-0, and Carolina 4-2 in the last.
Extra time is where the two split. Vegas went 16-10-17 in one-goal games and won only 9 of the 26 that went past regulation. Tampa Bay went 15-10-6 and won 10 of its 16.
The Lightning won both meetings in 2025-26. Their 6-3 win in Las Vegas on 6 November is in both halves of our number. Their 2-1 overtime win in Tampa on 26 October is in neither.
Pick: Lightning -105
Bet the Lightning on the moneyline at -105. The gap is 6.0 points toward Tampa Bay, against a threshold of 5.
The line read Golden Knights -115 and Lightning -105 on 19 October 2026 at 22:14 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at Vegas -112 and Tampa Bay -108.
What kills the bet
Not much. The gap clears the bar by a single point, so a small move toward Tampa Bay ends it. With Vegas at -115, the Lightning stay a bet down to -114; at -110 each way they are not. At +101 or longer, Tampa Bay is a bet whatever Vegas is priced at.
For Vegas to become the bet, the Golden Knights would have to be +192 or longer against Tampa Bay at -105. They are -115.
Neither team lists a goalie on ESPN’s injury list. Andrei Vasilevskiy has appeared in six of Tampa Bay’s eight games and Dennis Hildeby in two; Carter Hart has appeared in six of Vegas’s ten and Adin Hill in four. ESPN names no starter for Tuesday. Vegas lists Parker Wotherspoon as out and Lukas Cormier on injured reserve, Tampa Bay lists Yanni Gourde on injured reserve. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 6.5, over +105 and under -125. The Golden Knights’ games went over 6.5 in 38 of 82, the Lightning’s in 38 of 82. Vegas’s home games averaged 6.66 goals, Tampa Bay’s road games 6.56.
That is 46.3% for both, an average of 46.3% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 46.8% and the under at 53.2%, so our number and the price are within a point. Pass on the total.
The puck line points the same way as the pick. Vegas is -1.5 at +210 and Tampa Bay +1.5 at -258, which is 30.9% and 69.1% without the margin. Over the full season the Golden Knights won by two goals or more in 23 of 82 games, and the Lightning lost by two or more in 16 of 82. Averaged, Vegas -1.5 lands 23.8% of the time against 30.9% priced, a gap of 7.1 points toward Lightning +1.5 at -258. Our method bets the moneyline only, so this is a lean. One bet on this game: the Lightning at -105.
