Celtics vs Magic Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet the Magic to win outright. Our number gives Orlando at home 49.5%; the price gives them 30.9%.
The Boston Celtics are -258 and the Orlando Magic +210 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 69.1% for Boston and 30.9% for Orlando. Last season’s home and road records put Orlando 18.6 points higher than that. We bet at 5.
How 49.5% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 regular-season rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Games at a neutral site are in neither half. Orlando played three, Boston none.
The Magic went 25-15 at Kia Center, a 62.5% home win rate over 40 games. The Celtics went 26-15 on the road and lost 15 of 41, a 36.6% road loss rate. The midpoint is 49.5% for Orlando and 50.5% for Boston.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -258 and +210 they come to 104.3%. With that taken out, the Celtics are 69.1% and the Magic 30.9%. Our number makes this close to a coin flip, and the market prices it at better than two to one.
This season is not in our number. The Magic are 2-3, 0-2 at home, and last won 121-114 at the Toronto Raptors on Friday 30 October. The Celtics are 4-1, 0-1 on the road, and last won 125-111 against the Chicago Bulls on the same night. Five games each is too few to say anything, and the method does not try.
Orlando at home, Boston on the road
At home the Magic scored 116.0 points a game and allowed 114.2, a margin of 1.8. The Celtics on the road scored 114.9 and allowed 107.3, a margin of 7.6. On points, Boston was the better team in these two halves. On wins, the halves are level, and wins are what the method counts.
The halves the method leaves out: Orlando on the road went 19-20, scoring 115.5 and allowing 115.4. Boston at home went 30-11, scoring 114.8 and allowing 107.0.
The season around it
The Celtics finished 56-26, the second seed in the East, scoring 114.9 a game and allowing 107.2, a difference of 7.7. They won 38 games by 10 or more and lost 10 that way. In games decided by 5 or fewer they were 10-10. They lost to the Philadelphia 76ers 4-3 in the playoffs.
The Magic finished 45-37, the eighth seed, with a point difference of 0.6 a game (115.7 for, 115.1 against). They won 19 by 10 or more and lost 19 by 10 or more. Games decided by 5 or fewer went 19-12, and 5 went to overtime. That close-game record is a large part of how a near-even point difference became eight games over .500. They lost to the Detroit Pistons 4-3.
Boston won three of the four meetings. In Orlando, the Magic won 123-110 on 7 November 2025 and the Celtics won 111-107 on 9 November 2025. Those two games are in our number: two of Orlando’s 40 home games and two of Boston’s 41 road games. In Boston, the Celtics won 138-129 on 23 November 2025 and 113-108 on 12 April 2026. Those are in neither half.
Pick: Magic +210
Bet the Magic on the moneyline at +210. The gap is 18.6 points toward Orlando, against a threshold of 5.
The line read Celtics -258 and Magic +210 on 1 November 2026 at 02:32 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at the same prices, so it has not moved.
What kills the bet
A much shorter Orlando price. At +125 or longer the Magic are a bet whatever Boston is priced at. With the Celtics at -258, the Magic stay a bet down to -137.
For the Celtics to become the bet, they would need to be +120 or longer whatever Orlando’s price. Against Magic +210, Boston becomes the bet only at +271 or longer.
ESPN’s injury list for the game, read 1 November 2026 at 02:32 UTC, has five Magic out: Paolo Banchero (ankle), Jalen Suggs (knee), Jonathan Isaac (knee), Noah Penda (hamstring) and Izaiyah Nelson (ankle). For Boston, Devin Carter is out (illness) and Mitchell Robinson is day-to-day (rest). The method reads last season’s rates only, so the list does not change the number. In our view, Banchero and Suggs both being out is the main risk in this bet and the most likely reason the price is +210. Check the lineups before you bet.
Our number still gives Orlando a 50.5% chance of losing. The case is that +210 pays far more than that risk warrants, on last season’s evidence.
The total and the spread
The total is 222.5, over -110 and under -110. The Magic’s home games went over 222.5 in 27 of 40, a 67.5% rate. The Celtics’ road games went over in 19 of 41, 46.3%. Orlando’s home games averaged 230.2 points and Boston’s road games 222.2. Across all 82 games, the Magic went over in 52 and the Celtics in 39.
The average of the two venue rates is 56.9% for the over. With the margin out, the over is priced at 50.0%, so our count leans to the over by 6.9 points. Our method stakes the moneyline only, so this is a lean, not a bet.
The spread is Celtics -6.5 at -108 and Magic +6.5 at -112, unchanged from the open. Orlando at home beat this line in 32 of 40 games. Boston on the road beat it in 20 of 41. Averaged, Magic +6.5 lands 65.6% of the time against 50.4% priced, a gap of 15.2 points toward Orlando. That is a lean on the same side, never a second bet. One bet on this game: the Magic at +210.
