Rockets vs Spurs Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

No bet on the Rockets or the Spurs. Our number has Houston 3.7 points better than the market does, and we need 5.

The Houston Rockets are +190 and the San Antonio Spurs -230 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 33.1% for Houston and 66.9% for San Antonio. Our number gives the Rockets 36.8%. That gap of 3.7 points is the whole argument, and it falls short of the rule.

How 36.8% is reached

Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 regular-season rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. This game is at Moody Center in Austin, listed as a Spurs home game and not a neutral site. Games at a neutral site are in neither half. San Antonio played one, Houston none.

The Spurs went 32-8 at home, an 80.0% win rate over 40 games. The Rockets went 22-19 on the road and lost 19 of 41, a 46.3% road loss rate. The midpoint is 63.2% for San Antonio and 36.8% for Houston.

The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -230 and +190 they come to 104.2%. Taken out, the Spurs are 66.9% and the Rockets 33.1%.

San Antonio opened 2026-27 at 0-1, losing 116-104 to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday 20 October. Houston is 1-0 after a 128-110 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday 21 October. Our number reads 2025-26 only, so neither game is in it. Rosters change over a summer, and the number does not see that either.

San Antonio at home, Houston on the road

At home the Spurs scored 120.5 points a game and allowed 111.9, a margin of 8.6. The Rockets on the road scored 115.7 and allowed 112.7, a margin of 3.0.

The halves the method leaves out: Houston at home went 30-11, a 73.2% win rate, scoring 114.8 and allowing 107.3. San Antonio on the road went 29-12, a 70.7% win rate, scoring 119.4 and allowing 111.2. The method takes the Rockets’ road half, where they won 53.7% of their games, and that is the half this game is played in.

Last season and the four meetings

The Spurs finished 62-20, the second seed in the West, scoring 119.8 a game and allowing 111.5, a difference of 8.3. The Rockets finished 52-30, the fifth seed, scoring 115.2 and allowing 110.0, a difference of 5.2.

San Antonio won by 10 or more in 43 games and lost by 10 or more in 8. Houston did so in 27 and 11. In games decided by 5 points or fewer, the Spurs went 13-10 and the Rockets 14-12. Houston played 8 overtime games, San Antonio 2.

In the playoffs the Spurs beat the Portland Trail Blazers 4-1, the Minnesota Timberwolves 4-2 and the Oklahoma City Thunder 4-3, then lost to the New York Knicks 4-1. The Rockets lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 4-2.

The Spurs won three of the four meetings. In San Antonio’s arena, the Spurs won 121-110 on 7 November 2025 and 145-120 on 8 March 2026. Those two are in our number: two of the Spurs’ 40 home games and two of the Rockets’ 41 road games. In Houston, the Rockets won 111-106 on 20 January and the Spurs won 111-99 on 28 January. Those are in neither half.

Pick: No bet

The rule is a gap of 5 points between our number and the market’s. The gap here is 3.7 toward Houston, so there is no bet on either side.

The line read Rockets +190 and Spurs -230 on 22 October 2026 at 20:59 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at Rockets +185 and Spurs -225, when the market gave San Antonio 66.4%. It has moved toward the Spurs by 0.5 points since opening.

Our view is that -230 is close to fair. The Spurs’ 80.0% home win rate and Houston’s 46.3% road loss rate land at 63.2%, and the market sits at 66.9%. That distance is inside what we treat as noise.

What kills the bet

A longer Houston price. At +214 or longer the Rockets are a bet whatever San Antonio is priced at. With the Spurs at -230, Houston becomes a bet at +208 or longer. The current price is +190.

For the Spurs to become the bet, they would have to be -139 or longer whatever the Rockets are priced at, or +108 or longer against Houston at +190. The market gives them 66.9%.

ESPN’s injury list for the game, read 22 October 2026 at 20:59 UTC, has Jayden Quaintance (knee) out and Tobias Harris (calf) day-to-day for San Antonio, and Steven Adams (calf) day-to-day for Houston. Our method does not use the list, so it does not change the number. Check the lineups before you bet.

The total and the spread

The total is 227.5, over -110 and under -110. The Spurs’ home games went over 227.5 in 21 of 40, a 52.5% rate, and averaged 232.4 points. The Rockets’ road games went over in 21 of 41, a 51.2% rate, and averaged 228.4. Across all 82 games, San Antonio went over in 42 and Houston in 37.

Averaged, the over lands 51.9% of the time against 50.0% priced, a lean of 1.9 points to the over. That is a pass.

The spread is Spurs -6.5 at -105 and Rockets +6.5 at -115. It opened Spurs -5.5. San Antonio won by 7 or more in 27 of 40 home games. Houston won, or lost by 6 or fewer, in 32 of 41 road games. Averaged, Spurs -6.5 lands 44.7% of the time against 48.9% priced, a gap of 4.2 points toward Rockets +6.5. Our method stakes the moneyline only, so this is a lean, and the gap is below 5 as well. No bet on this game.
