Lakers vs Clippers Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet the Clippers at +170. Our number gives them 47.6% at home; the price gives them 35.5%.
The Los Angeles Lakers are -205 and the LA Clippers +170 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 64.5% for the Lakers and 35.5% for the Clippers. Last season’s home and road records put the Clippers 12.1 points higher than the market. We bet at 5.
How 47.6% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 regular-season rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Neither team played a neutral-site game, so nothing is left out of either half.
The Clippers went 23-18 at home, a 56.1% home win rate over 41 games. The Lakers went 25-16 on the road, a 39.0% road loss rate over 41 games. The midpoint is 47.6% for the Clippers and 52.4% for the Lakers.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair adds to more than 100%. At -205 and +170 the two prices come to 104.3%. With that taken out, the Lakers are 64.5% and the Clippers 35.5%.
This season so far
Our number reads 2025-26 only. The 2026-27 games are outside it. The Clippers are 1-2, 1-0 at home, and lost 108-101 at the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday 25 October. The Lakers are 3-1, 1-0 on the road, and lost 136-129 to the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday 27 October, the night before this game.
Three and four games are too few to describe either team. They prove nothing in either direction. The larger blind spot is the Clippers’ injury list, covered below.
Clippers at home, Lakers on the road
At home last season the Clippers scored 115.0 points a game and allowed 111.3, a margin of 3.7. On the road the Lakers scored 114.7 and allowed 115.2, a margin of -0.5. These are the two halves the method uses, and they point the same way.
The halves the method leaves out favour the Lakers. They went 28-13 at home, scoring 118.0 and allowing 114.0. The Clippers went 19-22 on the road, scoring 112.5 and allowing 113.9.
The season around it
The Lakers finished 53-29, fourth in the West, and outscored opponents by 1.7 points a game (116.3 to 114.6). They beat the Houston Rockets 4-2 in the playoffs, then lost 4-0 to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Clippers finished 42-40, ninth, outscored opponents by 1.2 a game (113.8 to 112.6) and missed the playoffs.
The Lakers’ 11 extra wins rest heavily on close games. In games decided by 5 points or fewer they went 11-4, and the Clippers went 10-12. Games decided by 10 or more were closer to level. The Lakers won 28 and lost 21. The Clippers won 25 and lost 23.
The teams split four games, 2-2, and each won both games in its own arena. At Intuit Dome the Clippers won 103-88 on 20 December 2025 and 112-104 on 22 January 2026. Those two games are in our number: two of the Clippers’ 41 home games and two of the Lakers’ 41 road games. In the Lakers’ arena the Lakers won 135-118 on 25 November 2025 and 125-122 on 20 February 2026. Those two are in neither half.
Pick: Clippers +170
Bet the Clippers on the moneyline at +170. The gap is 12.1 points toward the Clippers, against a threshold of 5.
The line read Clippers +170 and Lakers -205 on 28 October 2026 at 13:01 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at Clippers +164 and Lakers -198. Since the open it has moved toward the Lakers, whose chance with the margin out went up 0.8 points.
What kills the bet
A shorter Clippers price. At +135 or longer the Clippers are a bet whatever the Lakers are priced at. With the Lakers at -205, the Clippers stay a bet down to +101.
For the Lakers to become the bet, they would have to be priced at +111 or longer whatever the Clippers’ price. Against the current Clippers +170, they would need +200 or longer. They are -205.
ESPN’s game page, read 28 October 2026 at 13:01 UTC, lists five Clippers out: Rui Hachimura (quadriceps), Bradley Beal (knee), Max Strus (foot), Yanic Konan Niederhauser (foot) and Brandon Ingram (Achilles). It lists two Lakers out: Cameron Carr (oblique) and Adou Thiero (knee). Our method reads last season’s rates only, so the list does not change the number. Five absences on one side is, in our view, the main risk in this bet. Check the lineups before you bet.
Our number still gives the Clippers a 52.4% chance of losing. The case is that +170 pays more than that risk warrants, on last season’s evidence.
The total and the spread
The total is 228.5, over -105 and under -115. The Clippers’ home games went over 228.5 in 15 of 41, a 36.6% rate, and averaged 226.3 points. The Lakers’ road games went over in 22 of 41, a 53.7% rate, and averaged 229.9 points. Across all 82 games, the Clippers went over 32 times and the Lakers 47.
Averaged, our count gives the over 45.1%. With the margin removed the over is priced at 48.9% and the under at 51.1%. That is a 3.8-point lean to the under, below the threshold of 5. Pass on the total.
The spread is Clippers +5.5 at -115 and Lakers -5.5 at -105, unchanged from the open. The Clippers beat that line in 29 of 41 home games last season. The Lakers beat it in 18 of 41 road games. Averaged, Clippers +5.5 lands 63.4% of the time against 51.1% priced, a gap of 12.3 points. This is a lean on the same side as the moneyline, never a second bet. One bet on this game: the Clippers at +170.
