One night at +2000

On 6 November Mercyhurst won 73-65 at Loyola Chicago, getting 21.5 points and priced at +2000. That one result was worth 20 units of profit on a single unit staked. It is why the moneyline finished 12.06 units up over 32 priced games while the Lakers went 17-17, and why November, a 3-5 month, made 15.34. Take it out and the rest of the season lost 7.94.

The spread every week

The spread record does not depend on one game. Mercyhurst covered 21 of 31: only Penn, Prairie View A&M, Stephen F. Austin, Fresno State, Eastern Michigan, Howard and Portland State did better, and Navy matched it. As big road underdogs the Lakers beat the number even in defeat: they lost at Northwestern getting 26.5, at Syracuse getting 24.5 and at Miami (OH) getting 15.5, and covered all three.

Away from home they went 5-14 but covered 12 of 18. At home they went 12-3 and covered 9 of 13. The covers held through conference play: January was 6-4 against the number, February 6-2 in a 4-4 month. New Haven and Saint Francis lost both meetings, and Mercyhurst covered all four.

The conference

Mercyhurst won its Northeast Conference quarterfinal over Fairleigh Dickinson 70-61 and its semifinal over Stonehill 56-51, then lost the final 79-70 at LIU. LIU and Fairleigh Dickinson each won two of three meetings. The short-priced losses all came at home: Fairleigh Dickinson at -278, and Stonehill and Wagner at -192.
