Sabres vs Kings Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

Take the Sabres on the moneyline. With Alex Lyon out, our number runs on Buffalo’s road games without him and makes the Sabres a 62.1% winner in Los Angeles, against 52.6% in the price.

The Buffalo Sabres are -122 and the Los Angeles Kings +102 at DraftKings for Buffalo Sabres at Los Angeles Kings. With the margin out, that is 52.6% for Buffalo and 47.4% for Los Angeles. The price has this close to a coin flip. Our number has the Sabres clear.

How 62.1% is reached

Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins, and games at a neutral site are left out. A side is a bet when our number and the market’s differ by at least 5 points.

Lyon is on injured reserve with an upper-body injury (ESPN injury list, read 30 October 2026, 19:03 UTC; listed since 15 October, with 31 October given as his return date). When a team’s starting goalie is out, our method is run again on the games without him. Lyon appeared in 36 of Buffalo’s 82 games last season, more than Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen’s 35 and Colten Ellis’s 16. He played 18 of the 41 road games. In the 23 he missed, the Sabres went 14-7-2, a 39.13% road loss rate. Our minimum for this re-run is 10 games, and 23 clears it.

The Kings went 15-17-9 at crypto.com Arena, a 36.6% home win rate. The average of 36.6% and 39.13% puts Los Angeles at 37.9% and Buffalo at 62.1%. That is 9.5 points better for the Sabres than the price.

The full road season gives the same side. Buffalo went 24-13-4 away from home, a 41.5% road loss rate; on that number the Kings are 39.0% and the gap is 8.4 points. Without Lyon, the Sabres lost less often on the road, and the gap is wider.

The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -122 and +102 the two come to 104.5%. Taken out, Buffalo is 52.6% and Los Angeles 47.4%.

Every input is from 2025-26. This season is outside the method. The Kings are 4-6-2, 1-3-0 at home, and beat Ottawa 6-5 in overtime at home on Thursday 29 October. Darcy Kuemper has played eight of their games and Anton Forsberg five. The Sabres are 6-4-3, 3-1-3 on the road, and won 7-6 in Anaheim the same night. Luukkonen has played nine of their games and Ellis five. Both teams are on one day of rest.

Los Angeles at home, Buffalo on the road

At home the Kings scored 2.63 a game and allowed 3.12, a deficit of 0.49. The Sabres on the road scored 3.39 and allowed 2.98, a surplus of 0.41. One team gave up goals in its own building; the other won the scoring away from it.

The halves the method leaves out run the other way for Los Angeles. On the road the Kings went 20-10-11, a 48.8% win rate, scoring 2.85 and allowing 2.9. Buffalo at home went 26-10-5, 63.4%, scoring 3.63 and allowing 2.9. The Kings were a better team away from crypto.com Arena than in it, and that road half is not in our number.

Over the full season the gap between the clubs was wide. Buffalo went 50-23-9 with 109 points and outscored opponents by 47, then beat Boston 4-2 in the playoffs before losing to Montreal in seven games. Los Angeles went 35-27-20 with 90 points, was outscored by 22, and was swept 4-0 by Colorado in the first round.

The Kings lived in close games. They went 21-6-20 in one-goal games, and won 13 of the 33 that went past regulation. Buffalo went 15-3-9 in one-goal games and won 8 of 17 past 60 minutes. The Sabres won by two goals or more in 35 of 82 games; the Kings did it 14 times.

Buffalo won both meetings in 2025-26, each 4-1. The game in Buffalo on 29 January is in neither half of our number. The game in Los Angeles on 21 March is in the Kings’ home half and in Buffalo’s full road season.

Pick: Sabres -122

Bet the Sabres on the moneyline at -122. The gap is 9.5 points toward Buffalo on its road games without Lyon, against a threshold of 5, and 8.4 on the full road season.

The line read Sabres -122 and Kings +102 on 30 October 2026 at 19:04 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at Sabres -102 and Kings -118. Since the open, the market gives the Sabres 4.3 points more than it did.

What kills the bet

A shorter Buffalo price. At -133 or longer the Sabres are a bet whatever Los Angeles is priced at; against the Kings at +102, they stay a bet down to -194.

For the Kings to become the bet, they would have to be +204 or longer whatever the Sabres’ price, or +271 or longer against Buffalo at -122. They are +102.

Lyon’s return date is listed as 31 October, the day of the game. If he dresses, the re-run no longer applies, and the full-season number takes over: 8.4 points toward Buffalo, still above the threshold of 5.

Besides Lyon, ESPN’s injury list has Konsta Helenius and Jiri Kulich out for Buffalo, and Justin Danforth and Matt Grzelcyk on injured reserve. Los Angeles lists Brandt Clarke as day-to-day, with Mats Zuccarello, Kevin Fiala, Alex Turcotte and Jakub Dvorak on injured reserve. No other goalie is on either list. Check the lineups before you bet.

The total and the puck line

The total is 5.5, over -135 and under +114. The Kings’ games went over 5.5 in 39 of 82, the Sabres’ in 50 of 82. Los Angeles home games averaged 5.75 goals, Buffalo road games 6.37.

That is 47.6% and 61.0%, an average of 54.3% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 55.1% and the under at 44.9%, so our number leans to the under by 0.9 points. Pass on the total.

On the puck line, Buffalo is -1.5 at +200 and Los Angeles +1.5 at -245, which is 31.9% and 68.1% without the margin. The Sabres won by two goals or more in 35 of 82 games, and the Kings lost by two or more in 21 of 82. Averaged, Sabres -1.5 lands 34.1% of the time against 31.9% priced, a gap of 2.2 points. Our method stakes the moneyline only, so this is a lean on the same side. One bet on this game: the Sabres at -122.
