Senators vs Sharks Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Take the Sharks on the moneyline. With Linus Ullmark out, our number is run on Ottawa’s road games without him, and it makes San Jose a 60.0% winner at home against the price’s 44.9%.
This Senators vs Sharks prediction starts with the price. The San Jose Sharks are +114 and the Ottawa Senators -135 at DraftKings, read 30 October 2026 at 19:04 UTC. With the margin out, that is 44.9% for San Jose and 55.1% for Ottawa. The market has the visitors as the favourite. Our number has the home side ahead by 20 points.
How 60.0% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Neutral-site games are left out.
Ullmark is on injured reserve with a lower-body injury (ESPN injury list, entry dated 22 October, return date 7 November, read 30 October 2026, 19:03 UTC). When a team’s starting goalie is out, our method is run again on the games without him. Ullmark appeared in 49 of Ottawa’s 82 games in 2025-26, ahead of Leevi Merilainen’s 20 and James Reimer’s 14, and in 25 of the 41 road games. In the 16 road games he did not play, the Senators went 5-9-2, a 68.75% road loss rate.
The Sharks went 21-14-6 at SAP Center, a 51.2% home win rate. Average 51.2% with 68.75% and the Sharks are 60.0%, the Senators 40.0%. That is 15.1 points better for San Jose than the price.
The full road season gives the same side, with less room. Ottawa went 21-15-5 away from home, a 48.8% road loss rate. On that number San Jose is 50.0% and the gap is 5.1 points, just over our threshold of 5. Taking Ullmark out triples the gap.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At +114 and -135 they come to 104.2%. Taken out, the Sharks are 44.9% and the Senators 55.1%.
Every input is from 2025-26. This season is not in the figures. The Sharks are 7-6-1, 3-3-0 at home, and beat Vancouver 3-2 at home on Thursday 29 October. Yaroslav Askarov has played nine of their games and Alex Nedeljkovic five. The Senators are 8-5-1, 3-3-1 on the road, and lost 6-5 in overtime in Los Angeles the same night. Ullmark played eight of their games, Samuel Ersson six and Jonas Johansson three. In our view the sample’s limit is plain: the 16 games without Ullmark were played mostly by goalies other than Ersson and Johansson, so the re-run measures Ottawa without its starter, not this season’s backups.
San Jose at home, Ottawa on the road
Over the full season the Sharks at home scored 3.07 a game and allowed 3.46, a deficit of 0.39. The Senators on the road scored 3.39 and allowed 3.37, a surplus of 0.02. A road team that barely broke even with its starter is the half that the absence moves.
The halves the method leaves out: San Jose on the road went 18-21-2, a 43.9% win rate, scoring 3.05 and allowing 3.66. Ottawa at home went 23-12-6, 56.1%, scoring 3.39 and allowing 2.63. The Senators were a much stronger team in their own arena, and that half is not in our number.
The season around it
Over the full season these two finished 13 points apart. Ottawa went 44-27-11 with 99 points and outscored opponents by 32, then lost 4-0 to Carolina in the playoffs. San Jose went 39-35-8 with 86 points, was outscored by 41, and missed the playoffs.
The Sharks lived in close games. They went 22-5-8 in one-goal games and won 12 of the 20 that went past regulation. Ottawa went 16-10-11 in one-goal games and won 6 of its 17 past 60 minutes. San Jose lost by two goals or more in 30 of 82.
Ottawa won both meetings in 2025-26. The 3-2 win on Saturday 22 November 2025 was in San Jose, so it sits in the Sharks’ home rate and Ottawa’s full-season road rate. The 7-4 win on Sunday 15 March 2026 was in Ottawa, in neither half of our number. Two games say nothing about a rate.
Pick: Sharks +114
Bet the Sharks on the moneyline at +114. The gap is 15.1 points toward San Jose on Ottawa’s road games without Ullmark, against a threshold of 5, and 5.1 on the full road season.
The line read Sharks +114 and Senators -135 on 30 October 2026 at 19:04 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at +102 and -122. Since the open the market gives Ottawa 2.5 points more, so the price on San Jose has grown longer.
What kills the bet
A shorter San Jose price. At -122 or longer the Sharks are a bet whatever Ottawa is priced at; against Ottawa at -135, they stay a bet down to -237.
For the Senators to become the bet, they would have to be +186 or longer whatever the Sharks are priced at, or +297 or longer against San Jose at +114. They are -135.
Ullmark’s return date is 7 November, so the re-run holds for this game. Besides Ullmark, ESPN’s injury list has Warren Foegele out with a knee injury, Andre Burakovsky day-to-day and William Eklund on injured reserve for Ottawa. San Jose lists Igor Chernyshov, Alexander Wennberg, Quentin Musty and goalie Kyle Keyser on injured reserve. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 6.5, over -112 and under -108. The Sharks’ games went over 6.5 in 42 of 82, the Senators’ in 40 of 82. San Jose’s home games averaged 6.53 goals, Ottawa’s road games 6.76.
That is 51.2% and 48.8%, an average of 50.0% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 50.4%, so our number sits 0.4 points toward the under. Pass on the total.
On the puck line, Ottawa is -1.5 at +185 and San Jose +1.5 at -225, which is 33.6% and 66.4% without the margin. Over the full season the Senators won by two goals or more in 28 of 82 games, and the Sharks lost by two or more in 30 of 82. Averaged, Senators -1.5 lands 35.4% of the time against 33.6% priced. That 1.7-point gap is far under the threshold, and our method stakes the moneyline only. Pass. One bet on this game: the Sharks at +114.
