Maple Leafs at Avalanche Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Our number has the Avalanche at 64.6%. They are a bet at -147 or better, the Maple Leafs at +229 or longer.
No line has been posted for Toronto at Colorado as of 28 September 2026. Our number puts the Colorado Avalanche’s win chance at 64.6% and the Toronto Maple Leafs’ at 35.4%. A side is a bet when our number and the market’s are 5 points or more apart. There is no market figure yet.
How the number is built
The method is one clause: our home win chance is the average of the home team’s 2025-26 home win rate and the visitor’s 2025-26 road loss rate, with a win in overtime or a shootout counted as a win.
The Avalanche went 26-9-6 at home last season: 26 wins, 9 regulation losses and 6 losses after regulation. That is a 63.4% home win rate over 41 games. The Maple Leafs went 14-21-6 on the road, so they lost 27 of 41, a 65.9% road loss rate. The average of the two unrounded rates is 64.63, which rounds to 64.6 for the Avalanche and 35.4 for the Maple Leafs.
Both halves point the same way, 2.5 points apart. Agreement between two samples from one season still says nothing about 2026-27. That season began on 29 September, no game from it is in these figures, and nothing here measures what changed over the summer.
The Avalanche at home, the Maple Leafs on the road
At home, the Avalanche scored 3.83 goals a game and allowed 2.63. The Maple Leafs on the road scored 2.88 and allowed 3.76. That is 0.95 goals a game more scored by the home side, and 1.13 more allowed by the visitor.
The Avalanche were better away from Denver. Their road record was 29-7-5, a 70.7% win rate, three more wins than at home. The method uses only the home half, and 63.4% is the lower of the two.
The Maple Leafs were the other way round. They won 18 at home and 14 on the road, and they lost 14 games after regulation across the season. In one-goal games they went 14-4-14: 32 of those games, and 18 of them lost.
Across the full season the Avalanche finished 55-16-11 with 121 points and outscored opponents by 1.20 goals a game. In the playoffs they beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-0 and the Minnesota Wild 4-1, then lost 4-0 to the Vegas Golden Knights. The Maple Leafs finished 32-36-14 with 78 points, were outscored by 0.56 a game and did not reach the playoffs.
The teams met twice in January and split them. The Maple Leafs won 4-3 in overtime in Colorado. The Avalanche won 4-1 in Toronto. Two games prove nothing.
Pick: no bet until a line is posted
Our number is 64.6% for the Avalanche and 35.4% for the Maple Leafs. The market’s figure is the moneyline with the margin removed. The margin is the few points a book builds into both prices so that they add up to more than 100%.
For the Avalanche to be a bet, the market has to rate them at 59.6% or less. With no margin, that is a price of -147. For the Maple Leafs, the market has to rate them at 30.4% or less, which is +229.
Taking the margin out only lowers a side’s chance. So a posted price at or past either of those is a bet whatever the other side reads. A slightly shorter one can clear the threshold too, depending on the pair, and the full page works that out from the posted line.
It rests on 82 games, 41 at home for the Avalanche and 41 on the road for the Maple Leafs, all from last season.
What changes it
The price. If the market, with the margin removed, rates the Avalanche anywhere between 59.6% and 69.6%, neither side is a bet and the call is a pass. The full page re-reads the line on the day of the game.
The summer. A 43-point gap in the standings is last season’s gap. Nothing on this page says who is in either lineup on 10 October. Check the lineups before you bet.
