Step two: who gets the credit
A player’s Super Bowl MVP chance is his team’s title chance multiplied by his share of the credit if they win. The record says the share goes to the quarterback most of the time, seven times in 11, but not always, and it went elsewhere last season.
So when a Super Bowl MVP board does open, a quarterback’s price should be longer than his team’s title price, and a non-quarterback’s longer still. A price that is shorter than the team’s own title price is offering less than the team bet does. A futures bet on the award is worth making only when you rate the player’s chance higher than the price does; we do not make a pick on this market.
