Cavaliers vs Hawks Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

No bet on this game. Our number has the Cavaliers at 51.2%, the price has them at 48.9%, and a 2.3-point gap is short of the 5 we bet at.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are -105 and the Atlanta Hawks -115 at DraftKings, read 29 October 2026 at 13:01 UTC. With the margin out, that is 48.9% for Cleveland and 51.1% for Atlanta. Our method puts Cleveland 2.3 points higher than the market does. That is too small to stake.

How 48.8% is reached

Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 regular-season rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Games at a neutral site sit in neither half. Neither team played one.

The Hawks went 24-17 at State Farm Arena, a 58.5% home win rate over 41 games. The Cavaliers went 25-16 on the road and lost 16 of 41, a 39.0% road loss rate. The midpoint is 48.8% for Atlanta and 51.2% for Cleveland.

The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair adds to more than 100%. At -115 and -105 the two prices come to 104.7%. With it removed, the Hawks are 51.1% and the Cavaliers 48.9%.

This season is not in our number. Cleveland is 3-1, 0-1 on the road, and beat the Washington Wizards 121-111 on Wednesday 28 October. Atlanta is 2-3, 0-2 at home, and lost 129-117 to the Miami Heat the same night. Both teams played on Wednesday, and the method does not see that either.

Atlanta at home, Cleveland on the road

At home the Hawks scored 117.8 points a game and allowed 114.0, a surplus of 3.8. The Cavaliers on the road scored 119.9 and allowed 116.2, a surplus of 3.7. On the two halves the method uses, these teams are 0.1 points a game apart.

The halves the method leaves out: Cleveland at home went 27-14, scoring 119.2 and allowing 114.6. Atlanta on the road went 22-19, scoring 119.1 and allowing 118.1.

Over the full 2025-26 season the Cavaliers finished 52-30, the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference, and outscored opponents by 4.1 points a game. The Hawks finished 46-36, the sixth seed, and outscored opponents by 2.5 a game. In games decided by 5 points or fewer, Cleveland went 13-7 and Atlanta 9-10. Cleveland won by 10 or more 27 times and lost by 10 or more 17 times. For Atlanta those counts were 33 and 19.

In the playoffs the Cavaliers beat the Toronto Raptors 4-3 and the Detroit Pistons 4-3, then lost 4-0 to the New York Knicks. The Hawks lost 4-2 to the Knicks.

The four meetings split 2-2, and the home team won all four. In Atlanta, the Hawks won 130-123 on 28 November 2025 and 124-102 on 10 April 2026. Those two games are in our number: two of the Hawks’ 41 home games and two of the Cavaliers’ 41 road games. In Cleveland, the Cavaliers won 117-109 on 2 November 2025 and 122-116 on 8 April 2026. Those are in neither half.

Pick: No bet

No bet. The gap is 2.3 points toward Cleveland, against a threshold of 5. Below 5 we do not treat the difference between our number and the price as a measurement.

The line read Cavaliers -105 and Hawks -115 on 29 October 2026 at 13:01 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at -110 on both sides, a 50.0% split. The market gives Atlanta 1.1 points more than it did at the open, so the line has moved toward the Hawks.

What would make it a bet

A longer Cleveland price. At +117 or longer the Cavaliers are a bet whatever Atlanta is priced at. With the Hawks at -115, Cleveland becomes a bet at +118 or longer. At -105 the price is close to our number, and that is why we pass.

For Atlanta to become the bet, the Hawks would need to reach +129 or longer whatever Cleveland’s price. Against the current Cavaliers -105, they need +151. Our number has Atlanta at 48.8%, so a Hawks bet takes a much bigger move than a Cavaliers bet.

ESPN’s game page, read 29 October 2026 at 13:01 UTC, has Mouhamed Gueye (foot) and Henri Veesaar (knee) out for Atlanta, and lists no Cleveland players. The list does not change our number. Check the lineups before you bet.

The total and the spread

The total is 237.5, over -112 and under -108. The Hawks’ home games went over 237.5 in 13 of 41 and averaged 231.8 points. The Cavaliers’ road games went over in 20 of 41 and averaged 236.1. Across all 82 games, Atlanta went over in 35 and Cleveland in 37.

That is 31.7% and 48.8%, an average of 40.2% for the over. With the margin removed, the over is priced at 50.4% and the under at 49.6%, so our count leans to the under by 10.2 points. Our method stakes the moneyline only, so the under is a lean, not a bet.

The spread is Hawks -1.5 at -102 and Cavaliers +1.5 at -118. It opened at the same 1.5 points. Atlanta at home beat this line in 24 of 41 games, and Cleveland on the road beat it in 25 of 41. Averaged, Hawks -1.5 lands 48.8% of the time against 48.3% priced, a gap of 0.5 points. That is a lean toward the Hawks too small to mean anything. The call on the game stays no bet.
