Ball State Cardinals

The Cardinals won four of five home games in 2025 and none of seven on the road, and their road moneyline lost more than any other FBS team’s. Ball State football still covered all three games it was favored in.

Two different teams

Ball State went 4-8 in the 2025 regular season: 4-1 at home, 0-7 away. A unit on the Cardinals in each of the five priced home games made 6.04, a figure only three FBS teams beat. The same unit on the six priced road games lost 6.00, last among all 136.

Against the spread the venue split held: 4-1 at home, 2-5 away. On the road Ball State was shut out twice, 31-0 at Purdue and 42-0 at Western Michigan. It scored 15.83 a game over the season, more than only five FBS teams.

The upset

The biggest single return came on 4 October: Ohio lost 20-14 at Ball State with the Cardinals at +475, getting 14.5. That game made 4.75 of October’s 3.66 units.

As a favorite

Three games favored, three wins, three covers, all at home: the opener 34-29 at -2.5, 42-28 over Akron at -1.5 and 17-13 over Kent State at -3.5. Six other FBS teams also covered every game they were favored in. The three made 2.29 units; ten FBS teams did better as favorites. As an underdog Ball State went 1-8 and 3-6 against the spread.

Unders led overs seven to five. The full-season spread record was 6-6, and the 11 priced games netted 0.04 units.
