The Charlotte 49ers won one game in 2025 and still beat the spread in every one of their five road games. At home the same team covered once in six.

Five road covers, one home cover

Charlotte finished the 2025 regular season 1-11 and 6-6 against the spread, and where the game was played split that record cleanly. Away from home the 49ers lost all five and covered all five, a perfect road record against the number that three other FBS teams shared. At home they went 1-5 and covered once in six, a home cover rate that only four FBS teams finished below and 12 matched.

The road covers came with big numbers attached: +28.5 at South Florida, lost 54-26; +29.5 at East Carolina, lost 48-22; +42.5 at Georgia, lost 35-3; +29.5 at Tulane, lost 27-0; +17.5 at Army, lost 24-7. The home misses included 49-14 against Temple at +9.5 and 54-20 against North Texas at +25.5. The lone home cover was also the lone win, 42-35 over Monmouth as 2.5-point favorites.

Underdogs eleven times

Charlotte was the underdog in 11 of 12 games, lost all 11 and covered five. No FBS team was an underdog more often; four others matched it. The 49ers scored 14.33 points a game, and only three FBS teams scored fewer.

The moneyline

A moneyline was posted for nine of the 12. One unit on Charlotte in each of them finished 7.23 units down. The only return was 0.77, from Monmouth at -130. The eight priced underdog games lost all eight units: only two FBS teams lost more on the moneyline as underdogs, and two others lost the same.
