Patriots vs Dolphins Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Take the over 43. Miami +7 also clears our rule, but it stays a lean: the total is the one bet on this game.
The market has 43. Our number, last season’s scoring blended with this season’s by games played, is 45.47. That gap of 2.47 points is the argument, and on 2025 alone it is 3.45.
What the prices say
New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins kicks off Sunday 1 November 2026 at 4:25 pm ET. The median of 11 US sportsbooks, read through Nucleus on 31 October 2026 at 05:10 UTC, has the Patriots -7 and a total of 43. Ten books have -7 and one has -6.5. Seven have the total at 43 and four at 43.5. Patriots spread prices run from -116 to +100.
The moneyline median is Patriots -333, Dolphins +267. Every book builds in a margin, the extra that makes the two prices add to more than 100%, while a fair pair adds to exactly 100. Take the margin out and the market gives New England a 73.8% chance to win. Miami gets 26.2%.
How 45.47 is reached
The method, in one clause: each team’s expected points are the average of what it scored a game and what the other side allowed a game. In 2025 the Patriots scored 28.8 a game and Miami allowed 24.9, which puts New England at 26.85. Miami scored 20.4 and New England allowed 18.8, which puts Miami at 19.6. The 2025 total is 46.45.
This season alone, the same method gives 42.89. Blend the two seasons by games played and the number is 45.47. Against 43, the over has an edge of 3.45 on 2025 and 2.47 on the blend.
The threshold comes before the pick. A bet needs a gap of at least 2 points on 2025 and on the blend, in the same direction. Below two I pass, because season scoring rates carry more error than that. Both gaps clear.
This season so far
Records sit outside the method. New England is 4-3, with a 3-0 record at home and 1-3 on the road, and has outscored opponents 160-143. Miami is 1-5, 0-2 at home and 1-3 on the road, and has been outscored 98-157. Miami’s one win came in Week 7, 28-25 at the New York Jets.
The Patriots’ first three games went under their closing totals. The next four went over: 55 points on 49.5 at Buffalo, 62 on 45.5 against Las Vegas, 45 on 43 against the Jets and 54 on 50.5 at Chicago. Four of New England’s seven games finished over 43, and three of Miami’s six did. Seven games is not a rate. The bet rests on the blend.
New England on the road, Miami at home
The method uses full-season rates, so the venue splits are a check. In 2025 the Patriots went 8-0 on the road, scoring 29.5 a game and allowing 19.5. Miami went 4-4 at home, scoring 22.4 and allowing 25.4. Both splits leave out neutral-site games.
The other halves do not apply to this game. New England went 6-3 at home in 2025, scoring 28.2 and allowing 18.2. Miami went 2-6 on the road, scoring 19.0 and allowing 26.0. This season the Patriots are 1-3 away from home, which is four games and proves nothing against last year’s eight.
The season around it
New England went 14-3 in 2025 with a point difference of +170. It was 7-3 in one-score games and 5-1 in the AFC East. The playoffs ran through a 16-3 home win over the Los Angeles Chargers, 28-16 at home over Houston and 10-7 at Denver, then a 29-13 Super Bowl loss to Seattle in Santa Clara. Patriots games had a median total of 47.
Miami went 7-10 with a point difference of -77, 4-3 in one-score games and 3-3 in the division. Its median total was 44.
Against a line of 43, 13 Patriots games went over in 2025 and 3 went under. Miami’s split was 9 over and 6 under.
The teams met twice. New England won 33-27 at Miami on Sunday 14 September 2025, in Week 2, and 38-10 at home on 4 January 2026, in Week 18. Both games sit inside the 2025 rates, so both are already in our number. Two games say nothing on their own.
Pick: Over 43
The bet is the over 43. The edge is 3.45 points on 2025 and 2.47 on the blend, against a threshold of 2. Seven of the 11 books have 43 in the median read through Nucleus on 31 October 2026 at 05:10 UTC.
The total was 45.5 when first read on 10 September 2026. It was 45 on 27 October, 44 and then 44.5 on 29 October, and 43.5 and 43 on 31 October. Four books still have 43.5, and at that number the over is a pass. Take 43.
What kills the bet
The price comes first. The over is a bet at 43.47 or lower, so it holds at 43 and fails at 43.5. The under would become the bet at 48.45 or higher.
The 2026 number is the risk, in one figure: 42.89, a fraction under the market. If this season’s scoring describes these two teams better than last season’s does, there is no edge. The rule weights by games played, and on that rule the over clears.
No player’s absence is built into this number. Read both teams’ injury reports and check the lineups before you bet.
Miami +7, the lean
The side method: half the gap between the two teams’ per-game point differentials, plus 2.5 points for home field. In 2025 New England was +10.0 a game and Miami -4.53, which makes the Patriots 4.76-point favourites. This season alone, at +2.43 against -9.83, it makes them 3.63-point favourites. The blend is 4.45.
Against Miami +7 the edge is 2.24 on 2025 and 2.55 on the blend. Both clear 2, so Miami +7 is a lean on the same game. It is not a second bet, because the total is the market this method stakes. Miami is a lean at +6.76 or better: +7 qualifies, and the one book at +6.5 does not. The Patriots side would need New England -2.45 or better.
The Patriots spread was -8.5 when first read on 25 October 2026, -7.5 on 27 October, and -7 on 31 October, with one book at -6.5. The moneyline, at Patriots -333 and Dolphins +267, is context only. No bet.
Pick: over 43.
