Buccaneers vs Bears prediction: No bet on Bears -6
No bet on Bears -6. My number has Chicago by 4.18, the market has Chicago by 6, and Tampa Bay +6 falls just short of my threshold.
I wanted a bet here, and I don’t have one. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Chicago Bears kicks off Sunday 8 November 2026 at 8:20 pm ET. The line has gone past my number for Chicago, but not far enough to make the Buccaneers the play.
The prices and what they say
The median of 11 books, read on 7 November 2026 at 01:34 UTC, has Chicago -6 and Tampa Bay +6. Ten books have 6 and one has 6.5. The Buccaneers’ side is priced from -115 to -105. The total is 47.5 at all 11 books.
The moneyline is Chicago -278 and Tampa Bay +222. A book builds in a margin, so its two prices add up to more than 100%. With that margin taken out, the market gives Chicago a 70.3% chance to win and Tampa Bay 29.7%. I use that for context only. I bet the spread or the total.
The earliest line, on 13 September, had Tampa Bay +3.5. Since 3 November it has been quoted at 5, 5.5, 4.5 and 6.5. Since 7 November it has been 6.
How 4.18 is reached
Here is the method for the side. I take half the gap between the two teams’ per-game point differentials, then add 2.5 points for home field. In 2025 Chicago was +1.53 a game and Tampa Bay was -1.82. That makes Chicago a 4.18-point favourite.
The market has 6. That leaves a gap of 1.82 points, on Tampa Bay’s side. My threshold is 2 points. The rule needs that gap on 2025 and on the blend weighted by games played, both in the same direction. The 2026 numbers alone give Chicago by 4.19, and the weighted blend gives 4.18. That is the same 1.82 on every reading, and it fails the rule every time.
Is Chicago six points better than Tampa Bay at home? I don’t think so. But a 1.82-point disagreement is inside the error of a number built on season rates, so I pass.
This season so far
The won-lost records sit outside my number, and they flatter Chicago. The Bears are 6-2, at 3-1 both at home and on the road, with 214 points scored and 160 allowed. The Buccaneers are 3-5, at 1-4 at home and 2-1 on the road, and they have still outscored opponents 178-151.
Tampa Bay’s last two games were a 43-13 win at Carolina and a 16-0 win over Atlanta. Chicago has won its last three: 31-23 at Atlanta, 30-24 over New England and 34-17 at Seattle. Chicago has also lost 9-3 to Minnesota and 31-7 at Green Bay. This is not a team that wins every week by six.
Chicago at home, Tampa Bay on the road
My method uses full-season differentials and a flat 2.5 points for home field. It does not use these splits. The splits also leave out neutral-site games. In 2025 Chicago went 6-2 at home, scoring 25.6 a game and allowing 17.6. Tampa Bay went 4-5 on the road, scoring 21.0 and allowing 24.7.
The halves this game does not touch tell a different story. Chicago went 5-4 on the road last season and allowed 30.4 a game. Tampa Bay went 4-4 at home, scoring 23.9 and allowing 23.6. Chicago’s home split is the strongest case for -6. I still can’t count it when the method doesn’t.
The season around it
Chicago finished 2025 at 11-6 with a point difference of +26. The Bears went 7-4 in one-score games and 2-4 in the NFC North. In the playoffs they beat Green Bay 31-27 at home in the Wild Card round, then lost 20-17 at home to the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional round.
Tampa Bay went 8-9 with a point difference of -31. The Buccaneers were 6-6 in one-score games and 3-3 in the NFC South, and they missed the playoffs. The two teams are in different divisions and have not met since the start of the 2025 season. No meeting feeds my number.
Pick: No bet
The gap is 1.82 points against a 2-point threshold. Chicago is -6 at the median of 11 books, read 7 November 2026 at 01:34 UTC. The earliest line was Tampa Bay +3.5 on 13 September. Laying 6 with Chicago means paying for a margin my number doesn’t see. Taking 6 with Tampa Bay comes 0.18 of a point short of a bet.
What kills the bet
On the side, Chicago becomes the bet at -2.18 or better. That is a long way from 6, and I don’t expect it. Tampa Bay becomes the bet at +6.18 or better, so a consensus move to Tampa Bay +6.5 would turn this page into a bet on the Buccaneers. One of the 11 books is already there. The call follows the median, and the median is 6.
On the total, the over is a bet at 45.01 or lower and the under at 50.45 or higher. Check the injury report and the lineups before you bet.
The total: no bet on 47.5
The method for the total is simple. Each team’s expected points are the average of what it scored a game and what the other side allowed. On 2025, that gives Tampa Bay 23.4 and Chicago 25.05, for a total of 48.45. That is 0.95 over the market’s 47.5. The 2026 numbers alone give 43.94. The weighted blend gives 47.01, which leans 0.49 to the under. The two readings point in opposite directions, and neither comes near 2 points.
Last season, 10 of Tampa Bay’s 17 games went under 47.5, and 9 of Chicago’s 17 did. This season, two of Tampa Bay’s eight games have gone over the line and four of Chicago’s eight have. The total opened at 49 on 1 November and has been 47.5 since 7 November. Both are no bets.
Pick: no bet. At Tampa Bay +6.5 on the consensus line, ask me again.
