How 65.4% is reached

Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Neutral-site games are left out of both rates.

The Hurricanes went 29-10-2 at home, a 70.7% win rate. The Bruins went 16-16-8 on the road, a 60.0% road loss rate. Average the two and Carolina is 65.4%, Boston 34.6%. Against the price, that is 2.3 points toward Carolina.

What kills the bet

A longer Carolina price makes the Hurricanes the bet. At -152 or longer they are a bet whatever Boston is priced at; against Boston at +160, they become a bet at -142 or longer. They are -192.

For the Bruins to become the bet, they would need +238 or longer whatever Carolina is priced at, or +261 or longer against Carolina at -192. They are +160.

ESPN’s injury list on the game page, read 26 October 2026, has Alexander Nikishin out for Carolina (not injury related), Mark Jankowski day-to-day with a lower-body injury, and Taylor Hall and Jordan Staal on injured reserve. ESPN lists no Boston injuries. No goalie is on either list. Check the lineups before you bet.

That is 53.7% and 51.2%, an average of 52.4% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 48.3% and the under at 51.7%. Our number leans to the over by 4.2 points, under the threshold of 5. Pass on the total.

On the puck line, Carolina is -1.5 at +124 and Boston +1.5 at -148, which is 42.8% and 57.2% without the margin. Over the full season the Hurricanes won by two goals or more in 29 of 82 games, and the Bruins lost by two or more in 19 of 82.
