Red Wings vs Oilers Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

Bet the Red Wings at +154. Our number makes Detroit a 47.6% winner at Rogers Place, and the price says 37.8%.

The Detroit Red Wings are +154 and the Edmonton Oilers -185 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 37.8% for Detroit and 62.2% for Edmonton. The price makes Edmonton a clear favourite. Our number makes this a near coin flip, with the Oilers slightly ahead.

How 47.6% is reached

Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Games at neutral sites are left out of both rates. A side is a bet when our number and the market’s differ by at least 5 points.

The Oilers went 22-14-5 at Rogers Place, a 53.7% home win rate. The Red Wings went 20-15-6 on the road, a 51.2% road loss rate. Average the two and Edmonton is 52.4%, which leaves Detroit at 47.6%. That is 9.8 points better for the Red Wings than the price, against a threshold of 5.

The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At +154 and -185 they come to 104.3%. Taken out, the Red Wings are 37.8% and the Oilers 62.2%.

Every input is from 2025-26. This season is not in the figures. The Oilers are 8-2-1, 3-2-1 at home, and lost 7-2 to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday 24 October. Devon Levi has played seven of their games and Tristan Jarry four. The Red Wings are 4-4-3, 1-1-2 on the road, and lost 4-1 in Calgary on the same Saturday. John Gibson has played eight of their games, Daniil Tarasov four and Michal Postava one.

Edmonton at home, Detroit on the road

The Oilers at home scored 3.49 a game and allowed 3.41, a surplus of 0.08. That is a thin edge for a team the price treats as a heavy favourite. The Red Wings on the road scored 2.78 and allowed 2.95, a deficit of 0.17.

The halves the method leaves out: Edmonton on the road went 19-16-6, a 46.3% win rate, scoring 3.39 and allowing 3.15. Detroit at home went 21-16-4, 51.2%, scoring 3.1 and allowing 3.34. Neither half is in our number.

Over the full season the two finished with 93 and 92 points. Edmonton went 41-30-11 and outscored opponents by 13, then lost a playoff series to the Anaheim Ducks four games to two. Detroit went 41-31-10, was outscored by 17, and missed the playoffs.

Detroit’s points came from close games. The Red Wings went 18-5-10 in one-goal games and won 11 of the 21 that went past regulation. Edmonton went 13-11-11 in one-goal games and won 9 of its 20 past 60 minutes. The Oilers won by two goals or more in 28 of 82 games, the Red Wings in 23.

The teams split two meetings in 2025-26. Detroit won 4-2 at home on Sunday 19 October 2025, a game in neither half of our number. Edmonton won 4-1 at Rogers Place on Thursday 11 December 2025, and that game sits in both halves: an Oilers home win and a Red Wings road loss.

Pick: Red Wings +154

Bet the Red Wings on the moneyline at +154. The gap is 9.8 points toward Detroit, against a threshold of 5.

The line read Red Wings +154 and Oilers -185 on 25 October 2026 at 19:02 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at the same prices, +154 and -185, and has not moved.

What kills the bet

A shorter Detroit price. At +135 or longer the Red Wings are a bet whatever Edmonton is priced at. Against Edmonton at -185, they stay a bet down to +108.

For the Oilers to become the bet, they would have to be +111 or longer, or +182 or longer against Detroit at +154. They are -185.

The rest is on the ice. ESPN’s injury list has Levi, Edmonton’s most-used goalie this season, on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury, and Mattias Ekholm out with an upper-body injury. Jason Dickinson, Alec Regula and Matt Savoie are also on injured reserve for Edmonton. Detroit lists Tarasov as day-to-day, Simon Edvinsson on injured reserve in a contract dispute, and Mason Appleton and Marco Kasper on injured reserve. None of this is in our number. Check the lineups before you bet.

The total and the puck line

The total is 6.5, over -118 and under -102. The Oilers’ games went over 6.5 in 48 of 82, the Red Wings’ in 37 of 82. Edmonton’s home games averaged 6.9 goals, Detroit’s road games 5.73.

That is 58.5% and 45.1%, an average of 51.8% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 51.7% and the under at 48.3%. The gap is 0.1 points. Pass on the total.

On the puck line, Edmonton is -1.5 at +124 and Detroit +1.5 at -148, which is 42.8% and 57.2% without the margin. Over the full season the Oilers won by two goals or more in 28 of 82 games, and the Red Wings lost by two or more in 26 of 82. Our number has Oilers -1.5 landing 32.9% of the time against 42.8% priced, a gap of 9.9 points toward Red Wings +1.5. Our method stakes the moneyline only, so this is a lean, on the same side. One bet on this game: the Red Wings at +154.
