Panthers at Hurricanes Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

Last Updated on

The Hurricanes won 29 of 41 at home last season. Take them at -130.

The Carolina Hurricanes are -130 against the Florida Panthers at +110 at DraftKings, which prices the Hurricanes to win 54.3% of the time. Our number is 64.6%. The gap is 10.3 points, and a side is a bet here when the gap is 5 points or more.

How the number is built

The method is one clause: our home win chance is the average of the home team’s 2025-26 home win rate and the visitor’s 2025-26 road loss rate, with a win in overtime or a shootout counted as a win.

The Hurricanes went 29-10-2 at home last season, which is 29 wins, 10 regulation losses and 2 losses after regulation. That is a 70.7% home win rate over 41 games. The Panthers went 17-23-1 on the road, so they lost 24 of their 41 road games, a 58.5% road loss rate. The average of 70.7 and 58.5 is 64.6.

The market’s figure is the moneyline with the margin removed. The margin is the few points a book builds into both prices so that they add up to more than 100%. Take it out of -130 and +110 and the Hurricanes’ share is 54.3%.

This is the first week of a new season. Rosters change over a summer, and nothing on this page measures what changed. Last season’s 82 games are the only evidence in hand, and the method uses 41 of them for each team.

The Hurricanes at home, the Panthers on the road

At home, the Hurricanes scored 3.93 goals a game and allowed 3.07. The Panthers on the road scored 2.88 and allowed 3.73. That is 1.05 goals a game more scored by the home side and 0.66 fewer allowed.

Across the full season the Hurricanes finished 53-22-7 with 113 points and outscored opponents by 0.68 goals a game. The Panthers finished 40-38-4 with 84 points and were outscored by 0.31 a game. The Hurricanes then won four playoff series, the last of them 4-2 over the Vegas Golden Knights. The Panthers played no playoff games. The method leaves the playoffs out.

The teams met three times in 2025-26. The Panthers won 4-3 in a shootout at home on 20 December and 5-2 at Carolina on 24 December. The Hurricanes won the third, 9-1 at home on 17 January. Three games prove nothing about a fourth.

The price

The Hurricanes opened at -130 and the Panthers at +110, and both were unchanged when read on 24 September 2026 at 01:10 UTC at DraftKings via ESPN.

Both halves of our number sit above the market’s 54.3%: the 70.7% home win rate and the 58.5% road loss rate. Their average clears it by 10.3 points, twice the threshold.

Pick: Hurricanes moneyline

Carolina Hurricanes -130. Our number is 64.6%, the market’s is 54.3%, and the 10.3-point gap clears the 5-point threshold.

It rests on 82 games, 41 at home for the Hurricanes and 41 on the road for the Panthers, all from last season.

What changes it

The price. With the book’s margin at today’s size, the Hurricanes at -163 still leave a gap of 5.1 points and the bet stands. At -164 the gap is 4.9, and the call becomes a pass.

The summer is the other thing. A season of home and road results says how these two teams played in 2025-26, and nothing on this page says who is in either lineup on 29 September. Check the lineups before you bet.

The total and the puck line

The total is 6.5, with the over at +110 and the under at -130. The Hurricanes’ games went over 6.5 in 44 of 82, and the Panthers’ in 42 of 82. The Hurricanes’ home games averaged 7.00 goals, the Panthers’ road games 6.61.

The lean is found the same way as the pick: average the two over rates, 53.7% and 51.2%, to get 52.4%, and set that against the over’s 45.7% with the margin removed. That is 6.7 points toward the over. Lean over 6.5 at +110. It stays a lean, because the only method this page stakes money on is the moneyline one.

The puck line has the Hurricanes -1.5 at +190 and the Panthers +1.5 at -230. The Hurricanes won by two goals or more in 29 of their 82 games, and the Panthers lost by two or more in 32 of 82. Averaged, that is 37.2% against 33.1% priced for Hurricanes -1.5, a 4.1-point gap. Pass on the puck line.
