Blackhawks vs Bruins Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
No bet on the Bruins -225. Our number makes Boston a 67.1% winner at home, and the price already says 66.4%.
The Boston Bruins are -225 and the Chicago Blackhawks +185 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 66.4% for Boston and 33.6% for Chicago. Our figure is 67.1% and 32.9%. The gap is 0.7 points toward the Bruins, and our threshold for a bet is 5 points. The price is right.
How 67.1% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Games at a neutral site are left out of both rates.
The Bruins went 29-11-1 at TD Garden, a 70.7% home win rate. The Blackhawks went 15-20-6 on the road, with overtime and shootout losses counted as losses, a 63.4% road loss rate. Average the two and Boston is 67.1%, Chicago 32.9%.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -225 and +185 the pair comes to 104.3%. Taken out, the Bruins are 66.4% and the Blackhawks 33.6%. Our number and the market’s differ by 0.7 points. A gap that small says the book has priced this game the way our method would.
Every input is from 2025-26. This season is not in the figures. The Bruins are 9-4-1, 5-1-0 at home, and lost 4-1 at St. Louis on Thursday 29 October. Jeremy Swayman has played 11 of their games and Michael DiPietro 3. The Blackhawks are 4-9-0, 0-5-0 on the road, and lost 4-1 at Detroit on Thursday 29 October. Spencer Knight has played 11 of their games and Arvid Soderblom 2.
Boston at home, Chicago on the road
Over the full season the Bruins at home scored 3.54 a game and allowed 2.56, a surplus of 0.98. The Blackhawks on the road scored 2.59 and allowed 3.41, a deficit of 0.82. These are the two halves our number uses.
The halves the method leaves out are weaker for Boston and no better for Chicago. The Bruins on the road went 16-16-8, a 40.0% win rate, scoring 3.05 and allowing 3.48. The Blackhawks at home went 14-19-8, a 34.1% win rate, scoring 2.61 and allowing 3.29. Boston was a different team away from TD Garden, and that half is outside our number.
The season around it
Boston went 45-27-10 with 100 points in the Eastern Conference and outscored opponents by 22. The Bruins lost their playoff series to the Buffalo Sabres 4-2. Chicago went 29-39-14 with 72 points in the Western Conference, was outscored by 62, and missed the playoffs.
Close games split the same way. The Bruins went 20-8-10 in one-goal games and won 12 of the 22 that went past regulation. The Blackhawks went 13-8-14 in one-goal games and won 7 of their 21 past 60 minutes. Chicago lost by two goals or more in 31 of 82 games.
Boston won both 2025-26 meetings. The 4-3 overtime win at TD Garden on Thursday 9 October 2025 is inside both halves of our number. The 5-2 Bruins win in Chicago on Saturday 17 January 2026 is in neither half.
Pick: No bet

The line read Bruins -225 and Blackhawks +185 on 30 October 2026 at 19:03 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at -218 and +180. Since the open the market gives the Bruins 0.6 points more, 66.4% against 65.7%. The move went toward our number, and the gap left is too small to bet.
What kills the bet
Here the question is what would make one. The Bruins become a bet at -164 or longer whatever Chicago is priced at; against the Blackhawks at +185, they become a bet at -135 or longer. They are -225.
The Blackhawks become a bet at +258 or longer whatever Boston is priced at; against the Bruins at -225, they need +273 or longer. They are +185.
ESPN’s game page lists Bowen Byram, a Chicago defenceman, as day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Boston’s list is empty. No goalie is on either list. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 5.5, over -135 and under +114. The Bruins’ games went over 5.5 in 47 of 82, the Blackhawks’ in 42 of 82. Boston’s home games averaged 6.1 goals, Chicago’s road games 6.0.
That is 57.3% and 51.2%, an average of 54.3% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 55.1% and the under at 44.9%. Our number leans to the under by 0.9 points. Pass on the total.
On the puck line, Boston is -1.5 at +114 and Chicago +1.5 at -135, which is 44.9% and 55.1% without the margin. Over the full season the Bruins won by two goals or more in 25 of 82 games, and the Blackhawks lost by two or more in 31 of 82. Averaged, Bruins -1.5 lands 34.1% of the time against 44.9% priced, a gap of 10.7 points toward Blackhawks +1.5. Our method stakes the moneyline only, and the moneyline is no bet, so this gap is a reading, not a wager. No bet on this game.
