Devils vs Golden Knights Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
No bet on the Devils. Our number has New Jersey 2.3 points better than the price, and we bet at 5.
The New Jersey Devils are -105 and the Vegas Golden Knights -115 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 48.9% for New Jersey and 51.1% for Vegas. The price calls this close to even with the home team slightly ahead. Our number also calls it close to even, with the visitor slightly ahead. Those two readings are 2.3 points apart, and 2.3 points is not enough.
How 48.8% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Neutral-site games are left out.
The Golden Knights went 20-12-9 at T-Mobile Arena, a 48.8% home win rate. The Devils went 21-20-0 on the road, a 48.8% road loss rate. The two rates are the same, so the Golden Knights are 48.8% and the Devils 51.2%. Against the price that is 2.3 points toward New Jersey.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -115 and -105 they come to 104.7%. Taken out, Vegas is 51.1% and New Jersey 48.9%.
Every input is from 2025-26, and this season is outside the method. Vegas is 9-4-1 so far, 6-2-0 at home, and beat the Ottawa Senators 4-1 on Tuesday 27 October. Carter Hart has played eight of their games and Adin Hill six. New Jersey is 8-5-0, 2-3-0 on the road, and lost 5-2 at the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday 28 October. Jake Allen has played eight of their games and Connor Hellebuyck one.
Vegas at home, New Jersey on the road
Over the full season the Golden Knights at home scored 3.56 a game and allowed 3.10, a surplus of 0.46. The Devils on the road scored 2.66 and allowed 3.17, a deficit of 0.51. On goals, Vegas was the better side in these halves. On wins, the two halves come out level at 48.8%, and wins are what our number counts.
The halves the method leaves out: Vegas on the road went 19-14-8, a 46.3% win rate, scoring 2.90 and allowing 3.00. New Jersey at home went 21-17-3, a 51.2% win rate, scoring 2.95 and allowing 3.02. Neither half moves the picture of two teams near .500 in wins.
The season around it
The season tables are further apart than the halves. Vegas went 39-26-17 with 95 points and outscored opponents by 15. In the playoffs the Golden Knights beat the Utah Mammoth 4-2, the Anaheim Ducks 4-2 and the Colorado Avalanche 4-0, then lost 4-2 to the Carolina Hurricanes. New Jersey went 42-37-3 with 87 points, was outscored by 24, and missed the playoffs.
Close games are where the Devils kept their record afloat. They went 20-8-3 in one-goal games and won 13 of the 16 that went past regulation. Vegas went 16-10-17 in one-goal games and won 9 of its 26 past 60 minutes. On margin the order flips: New Jersey lost by two goals or more in 29 of 82 games, Vegas in 16 of 82. A record built on 13 wins in 16 extra-time games is a thin base, and our method counts those wins in full.
The teams met twice in 2025-26. Vegas won 3-0 in New Jersey on Friday 5 December 2025, a game in neither half of our number. New Jersey won 2-1 in a shootout in Vegas on Wednesday 17 December 2025, a game inside both halves.
Pick: No bet
No bet on the moneyline. The gap is 2.3 points toward the Devils against a threshold of 5. The price is right enough: a home team with a 48.8% win rate in its own arena, priced at 51.1%, against a visitor with a 48.8% road loss rate.
The line read Devils -105 and Golden Knights -115 on 29 October 2026 at 19:12 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at Devils +105 and Golden Knights -125. Since the open the market gives New Jersey 2.2 points more.
What kills the bet
A longer Devils price. Against Vegas at -115, the Devils become a bet at +118 or longer; at +117 or longer they are a bet whatever Vegas is priced at. They are -105, and the move since the open has gone the other way.
For the Golden Knights to become the bet, they would have to be +129 or longer whatever New Jersey is priced at, and +151 against the Devils at -105. They are -115.
ESPN’s injury list has Carter Hart day-to-day with an undisclosed injury and Parker Wotherspoon on injured reserve with an upper-body injury for Vegas. New Jersey lists Seamus Casey on injured reserve with a knee injury. None of them changes our number. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 6.5, over +105 and under -125. The Golden Knights’ games went over 6.5 in 38 of 82, the Devils’ in 35 of 82. Vegas’s home games averaged 6.66 goals, New Jersey’s road games 5.83.
That is 46.3% and 42.7%, an average of 44.5% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 46.8% and the under at 53.2%, so our number leans to the under by 2.2 points. Pass on the total.
On the puck line, Vegas is -1.5 at +205 and New Jersey +1.5 at -250, which is 31.5% and 68.5% without the margin. Over the full season the Golden Knights won by two goals or more in 23 of 82 games, and the Devils lost by two or more in 29 of 82. Averaged, Vegas -1.5 lands 31.7% of the time against 31.5% priced, a gap of 0.2 points. Our method stakes the moneyline only, and a 0.2-point gap says the price is right. No bet on this game.
