Blackhawks vs Hurricanes Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet the Blackhawks at +320. Our number makes Chicago a 32.9% winner at Lenovo Center, against the price’s 22.8%.
The Chicago Blackhawks at Carolina Hurricanes is priced Hurricanes -410 and Blackhawks +320 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 77.2% for Carolina and 22.8% for Chicago. The price has the home side winning a little more than three games in four. Our number has it closer to two in three.
How 67.1% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Neutral-site games are left out of both.
The Hurricanes went 29-10-2 at home, a 70.7% home win rate. The Blackhawks went 15-20-6 on the road, a 63.4% road loss rate. Averaged, Carolina is 67.1% and Chicago 32.9%. That is 10.1 points better for Chicago than the price.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -410 and +320 they come to 104.2%. Taken out, the Hurricanes are 77.2% and the Blackhawks 22.8%. A side is a bet when our number and the market’s differ by at least 5 points, and 10.1 clears that by twice over.
Every input is from 2025-26. This season is outside the method, and it has gone badly for Chicago. The Blackhawks are 4-12-1, 0-7-1 on the road, and lost 4-1 at Tampa Bay on Thursday 5 November. Spencer Knight has played 13 of their games and Arvid Soderblom 4. The Hurricanes are 13-3-2, 5-1-1 at home, and won 5-3 at the New York Islanders on the same night. Pyotr Kochetkov has played 11 of their games and Brandon Bussi 7. None of that is in our number.
Carolina at home, Chicago on the road
The Hurricanes at home scored 3.93 a game and allowed 3.07, a surplus of 0.86. The Blackhawks on the road scored 2.59 and allowed 3.41, a deficit of 0.82. Those are the two halves our number uses.
The halves the method leaves out: Carolina on the road went 24-12-5, a 58.5% win rate, scoring 3.29 and allowing 2.78. Chicago at home went 14-19-8, a 34.1% win rate, scoring 2.61 and allowing 3.29. The Blackhawks were close to the same team in both buildings. The Hurricanes won more often at home, 70.7% against 58.5% on the road, and that home rate is the half that sets our number.
The season around it
Over the full 2025-26 season Carolina went 53-22-7 with 113 points and a goal difference of +56. Its four playoff series finished 4-0 against Ottawa, 4-0 against Philadelphia, 4-1 against Montreal and 4-2 against Vegas. Chicago went 29-39-14 with 72 points, a goal difference of -62, and missed the playoffs.
Carolina went 24-4-7 in one-goal games and won 14 of the 21 that went past 60 minutes. Chicago went 13-8-14 in one-goal games and won 7 of its 21 past regulation. The Blackhawks lost by two goals or more in 31 of 82 games.
The two met twice in 2025-26. On Thursday 22 January 2026, in Carolina, the Blackhawks won 4-3 in a shootout. That game sits in both halves of our number: a home loss for Carolina, a road win for Chicago. On Thursday 9 April 2026, in Chicago, the Hurricanes won 7-2. That one is in neither half.

What kills the bet
A shorter Chicago price. Against Carolina at -410, the Blackhawks stay a bet down to +221. At +258 or longer they are a bet whatever Carolina is priced at.
For the Hurricanes to become the bet, they would have to be +156 or longer against Chicago at +320, or -164 or longer whatever the Chicago price. They are -410.
The rest is on the ice. Chicago’s 0-7-1 road start is not in our number. ESPN’s injury list has Patrick Kane out with an upper-body injury and Bowen Byram on injured reserve with an upper-body injury for Chicago. Carolina lists Jordan Staal on injured reserve with a calf injury and Alexander Nikishin as day-to-day, not injury related. No goalie is on either list. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 6.5, over +105 and under -125. The Hurricanes’ games went over 6.5 in 44 of 82, a 53.7% rate. The Blackhawks’ games went over in 33 of 82, 40.2%. Carolina’s home games averaged 7.0 goals, Chicago’s road games 6.0.
Averaged, our over is 47.0%. With the margin removed the over is priced at 46.8% and the under at 53.2%. The gap is 0.2 points toward the over. Pass on the total.
On the puck line, Carolina is -1.5 at -162 and Chicago +1.5 at +136, which is 59.3% and 40.7% without the margin. Over the full season the Hurricanes won by two goals or more in 29 of 82 games, and the Blackhawks lost by two or more in 31 of 82. Averaged, Hurricanes -1.5 lands 36.6% of the time against 59.3% priced, a gap of 22.8 points toward Blackhawks +1.5 at +136. Our method stakes the moneyline only, so this is a lean, on the same side. One bet on this game: the Blackhawks at +320.
