Mammoth vs Canadiens Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
No bet on this game. Our number has the Canadiens 4.1 points better than the price, and a bet needs 5.
The Montreal Canadiens are -108 and the Utah Mammoth -112 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 49.6% for Montreal and 50.4% for Utah. The price calls Utah at Montreal a coin flip with the visitors a fraction ahead. Our number makes the Canadiens 53.7% winners.
How 53.7% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Neutral-site games are left out.
The Canadiens went 24-15-2 at Bell Centre, a 58.5% home win rate. The Mammoth went 21-17-3 away from home, a 48.8% road loss rate. Average 58.5% with 48.8% and Montreal is 53.7%, Utah 46.3%. That is 4.1 points better for the Canadiens than the price.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -108 and -112 the pair comes to 104.8%. Taken out, Montreal is 49.6% and Utah 50.4%.
Every input is from 2025-26. This season is not in the figures. Montreal is 9-3-3, 4-2-2 at home, and lost 5-4 in overtime to Winnipeg on Tuesday 3 November. Jacob Fowler has played nine of its games and Jakub Dobes six. Utah is 10-6-0, 6-4-0 on the road, and won 3-2 in Toronto the same night. Karel Vejmelka has played 12 of its games and Sebastian Cossa six. None of that moves our number.
Montreal at home, Utah on the road
At home the Canadiens scored 3.34 a game and allowed 3.1, a surplus of 0.24. On the road the Mammoth scored 3.2 and allowed 2.83, a surplus of 0.37. Utah’s road defence was the tighter of the two halves the method uses.
The halves the method leaves out: Montreal on the road went 24-9-8, a 58.5% win rate, the same as at home, scoring 3.56 and allowing 3.15. Utah at home went 22-16-3, 53.7%, scoring 3.34 and allowing 3.02. The Canadiens were no weaker away from Bell Centre. That road half is not in our number.
The season around it
Montreal went 48-24-10 for 106 points and outscored opponents by 27. In the playoffs it beat Tampa Bay 4-3 and Buffalo 4-3, then lost 4-1 to Carolina. Utah went 43-33-6 for 92 points and outscored opponents by 28, then lost 4-2 to Vegas in the first round.
The Canadiens lived in close games. They went 23-6-10 in one-goal games and won 14 of the 24 that went past regulation. Utah went 16-11-6 in one-goal games and won 10 of its 16 past 60 minutes. The Mammoth won by two goals or more 27 times, Montreal 25.
Montreal won both meetings in 2025-26. The 6-2 win on 8 November 2025 was at Bell Centre, so it sits inside Montreal’s home half of our number. The 4-3 win on 26 November 2025 was in Utah’s arena, which is in neither half.
Pick: No bet
Pass on the moneyline. The gap is 4.1 points toward the Canadiens against a threshold of 5. A gap that size is inside the noise of a method built on one season of home and road records.
The line read Canadiens -108 and Mammoth -112 on 4 November 2026 at 16:32 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at the same prices, so the market’s 49.6% for Montreal has not moved.
What kills the bet
Here it would make one. At +106 or longer the Canadiens are a bet whatever Utah is priced at. Against Utah at -112, Montreal becomes a bet at -101 or longer.
For the Mammoth to become the bet, they would have to be +142 or longer whatever Montreal is priced at, or +174 or longer against Montreal at -108. They are -112.
ESPN’s injury list has Nick Suzuki out with a hand injury and Mike Matheson out with a lower-body injury for Montreal. Goalie Sam Montembeault and Ivan Demidov are on injured reserve, and Kirby Dach is day-to-day with an illness. Utah lists Kailer Yamamoto as day-to-day, with John Marino and Maveric Lamoureux on injured reserve. None of these re-run our method. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 6.5, over -105 and under -115. The Canadiens’ games went over 6.5 in 44 of 82, the Mammoth’s in 38 of 82. Montreal’s home games averaged 6.44 goals, Utah’s road games 6.03.
That is 53.7% and 46.3%, an average of 50.0% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 48.9%, so our number leans over by 1.1 points. Pass on the total.
On the puck line, Utah is -1.5 at +200 and Montreal +1.5 at -245, which is 31.9% and 68.1% without the margin. The Mammoth won by two or more in 27 of 82 games and the Canadiens lost by two or more in 18 of 82. Averaged, Mammoth -1.5 lands 27.4% of the time, a gap of 4.5 points toward Canadiens +1.5. Our method stakes the moneyline only, and that gap is below 5 anyway. No bet on this game.
