Canadiens vs Maple Leafs Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet the Canadiens on the moneyline in Toronto. Our number makes Montreal a 57.3% winner, and the price says 51.1%.
The Montreal Canadiens are -115 and the Toronto Maple Leafs -105 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 51.1% for Montreal and 48.9% for Toronto. The market has this as close to a coin flip, with the visitors a slight favourite. Our number has the Canadiens clearly ahead.
How 57.3% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Neutral-site games are left out. A side is a bet when our number and the market’s differ by at least 5 points.
The Maple Leafs went 18-15-8 at Scotiabank Arena, a 43.9% home win rate. The Canadiens went 24-9-8 on the road, a 41.5% road loss rate. Averaged, Toronto is a 42.7% winner and Montreal 57.3%. That is 6.2 points better for the Canadiens than the price.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -115 and -105 they come to 104.7%. Taken out, the Canadiens are 51.1% and the Maple Leafs 48.9%.
Every input is from 2025-26. This season is not in the figures, and so far it points the same way. The Canadiens are 10-3-3, 5-1-1 on the road, and beat the Utah Mammoth 5-4 in overtime on Thursday 5 November. Jacob Fowler has played nine of their games and Jakub Dobes seven. The Maple Leafs are 8-7-2, 4-4-1 at home, and lost 3-2 to Utah on Tuesday 3 November. Sergei Bobrovsky has played 11 of their games and Anthony Stolarz six.
Toronto at home, Montreal on the road
The two halves the method uses are far apart. Toronto at home scored 3.29 a game and allowed 3.54, a deficit of 0.25. Montreal on the road scored 3.56 and allowed 3.15, a surplus of 0.41. The Canadiens’ road win rate was 58.5% against the Maple Leafs’ 43.9% at home.
The halves the method leaves out are Toronto on the road and Montreal at home. The Maple Leafs went 14-21-6 away, a 34.1% win rate, scoring 2.88 and allowing 3.76. The Canadiens went 24-15-2 at home, also a 58.5% win rate, scoring 3.34 and allowing 3.10. Montreal won at the same rate in both arenas. Toronto was worse away from home, and that half is not in our number.
Over the full season Montreal went 48-24-10 with 106 points and outscored opponents by 27. They then beat Tampa Bay 4-3 and Buffalo 4-3 in the playoffs before losing 4-1 to Carolina. Toronto went 32-36-14 with 78 points, was outscored by 46, and missed the playoffs.
The Canadiens went 23-6-10 in one-goal games and won 14 of the 24 that went past regulation. The Maple Leafs went 14-4-14 in one-goal games and won 9 of their 23 past 60 minutes. Toronto lost by two goals or more in 32 of 82 games.
Montreal won three of the four meetings in 2025-26. Toronto won 5-2 at home on Wednesday 8 October 2025. The Canadiens won 5-2 at home on Saturday 22 November, 2-1 in a shootout in Toronto on Saturday 6 December, and 3-1 at home on Tuesday 10 March 2026. The two games in Toronto are in both halves of our number. The two in Montreal are in neither.
Pick: Canadiens -115
Bet the Canadiens on the moneyline at -115. The gap is 6.2 points toward Montreal, against a threshold of 5.
The line read Canadiens -115 and Maple Leafs -105 on 6 November 2026 at 20:33 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at the same prices, so the market’s 51.1% for Montreal is unchanged since opening.
What kills the bet
A shorter Montreal price. At -109 or longer the Canadiens are a bet whatever Toronto is priced at. Against Toronto at -105, they stay a bet down to -128. Shorter than that, the gap falls under 5 points and this is a pass.
For the Maple Leafs to become the bet against Montreal at -115, they would have to be +209 or longer. They are -105.
The rest is on the ice. ESPN’s injury list has Sam Montembeault, a goalie, on injured reserve for Montreal, along with Ivan Demidov, Bryce Pickford and Lucas Condotta; Mike Matheson is out. Toronto lists John Tavares, Kirill Marchenko, Miles Wood, Nick Blankenburg and Marshall Rifai on injured reserve. None of these changes the method. Fowler and Dobes are the two goalies ESPN shows with games for Montreal this season. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 6.5, over -115 and under -105. The Maple Leafs’ games went over 6.5 in 46 of 82, the Canadiens’ in 44 of 82. Toronto’s home games averaged 6.83 goals, Montreal’s road games 6.71.
That is 56.1% and 53.7%, an average of 54.9% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 51.1% and the under at 48.9%, so our number leans to the over by 3.8 points. That is under the threshold of 5. Pass on the total.
On the puck line, Montreal is -1.5 at +210 and Toronto +1.5 at -258, which is 30.9% and 69.1% without the margin. Over the full season the Canadiens won by two goals or more in 25 of 82 games, and the Maple Leafs lost by two or more in 32 of 82. Averaged, Canadiens -1.5 lands 34.8% of the time against 30.9% priced, a gap of 3.8 points. Our method stakes the moneyline only, so this is a lean, on the same side. One bet on this game: the Canadiens at -115.
