Canucks at Rangers Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Our number has the Canucks at 52.4% in New York. They are a bet at +111 or longer, the Rangers at +135 or longer.
No line has been posted for Vancouver at New York as of 28 September 2026. Our number puts the New York Rangers’ win chance at 47.6% and the Vancouver Canucks’ at 52.4%. A side is a bet when our number and the market’s are 5 points or more apart. Until a price is posted there is nothing to compare it with.
How the number is built
The method is one clause: our home win chance is the average of the home team’s 2025-26 home win rate and the visitor’s 2025-26 road loss rate, with a win in overtime or a shootout counted as a win.
The Rangers went 14-20-7 at home last season: 14 wins, 20 regulation losses and 7 losses after regulation. That is a 34.1% home win rate over 41 games. The Canucks went 16-22-3 on the road, so they lost 25 of 41, a 61.0% road loss rate. The average of the two unrounded rates is 47.56, carried as 47.6 for the Rangers and 52.4 for the Canucks.
That makes the team with 58 points last season our slight favourite over the team with 77. It comes from one fact: the Rangers won 14 home games out of 41, and that is the half the method uses.
These are last season’s games. The 2026-27 season started on 29 September and none of it is in the figures. Nothing on this page measures what changed over the summer.
The Rangers at home, the Canucks on the road
At home, the Rangers scored 2.59 goals a game and allowed 3.02. The Canucks on the road scored 2.80 and allowed 3.80. The Canucks scored 0.21 a game more and allowed 0.78 more.
Both teams were worse in their own building. The Rangers went 20-19-2 on the road, six more wins than at home. The Canucks went 9-27-5 at home and 16-22-3 away, a 22.0% home win rate against 39.0% on the road.
Across the full season the Canucks finished 25-49-8 with 58 points and were outscored by 1.22 goals a game. They lost by two goals or more in 40 of their 82. The Rangers finished 34-39-9 with 77 points and were outscored by 0.15 a game. Neither team reached the playoffs.
The teams met twice and split, each winning on the other’s ice by shutout. The Rangers won 2-0 in Vancouver in October, and the Canucks won 3-0 in New York in December. Two games prove nothing.
Pick: no bet until a line is posted
Our number is 47.6% for the Rangers and 52.4% for the Canucks. The market’s figure is the moneyline with the margin removed. The margin is the few points a book builds into both prices so that they add up to more than 100%.
For the Canucks to be a bet, the market has to rate them at 47.4% or less. With no margin, that is a price of +111. For the Rangers, the market has to rate them at 42.6% or less, which is +135.
Taking the margin out only lowers a side’s chance. So a posted price at or past either of those is a bet whatever the other side reads. A slightly shorter one can clear the threshold too, depending on the pair, and the full page works that out from the posted line.
It rests on 82 games, 41 at home for the Rangers and 41 on the road for the Canucks, all from last season.
What changes it
The price. If the market, with the margin removed, rates the Canucks anywhere between 47.4% and 57.4%, neither side is a bet and the call is a pass. If it rates the Rangers at 52.6% or more, the Canucks become the bet. The full page re-reads the line on the day of the game.
The summer. A 19-point gap in last season’s standings is the kind of thing a summer can close or widen. Nothing on this page says who is in either lineup on 11 October. Check the lineups before you bet.
