Canucks vs Sharks Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet the Canucks to win in San Jose. Our number gives Vancouver a 43.9% chance against the price’s 36.3%.
The San Jose Sharks are -198 and the Vancouver Canucks +164 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 63.7% for San Jose and 36.3% for Vancouver. Our number is 56.1% and 43.9%. The 7.6-point gap toward the Canucks is the whole argument.
How 43.9% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Neutral-site games are left out of both rates, so “at home” here means games in the team’s own building.
The Sharks went 21-14-6 at SAP Center at San Jose, a 51.2% home win rate. The Canucks went 16-22-3 on the road, a 61.0% road loss rate. Average the two and San Jose is 56.1%, Vancouver 43.9%. That is 7.6 points better for Vancouver than the price.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -198 and +164 they come to 104.3%. Taken out, the Sharks are 63.7% and the Canucks 36.3%.
The rule is fixed before the pick. A side is a bet when our number and the market’s differ by at least 5 points. This one differs by 7.6.
Every input is from 2025-26. This season is not in the figures. The Sharks are 6-6-1, 2-3-0 at home, and lost 2-0 to Buffalo on Tuesday, 27 October. Yaroslav Askarov has appeared in eight of their games and Alex Nedeljkovic in five. The Canucks are 3-10-1, 2-5-1 on the road, and won 6-5 in overtime at Anaheim on Tuesday. Leevi Merilainen has appeared in nine of their games and Kevin Lankinen in eight. Fourteen games is too few to replace a full season, and the method does not use them.
San Jose at home, Vancouver on the road
The Sharks at home scored 3.07 a game and allowed 3.46, a deficit of 0.39. The Canucks on the road scored 2.80 and allowed 3.80, a deficit of 1.0. Both halves of our number come from teams that were outscored. San Jose was outscored by less.
The halves the method leaves out: San Jose on the road went 18-21-2, a 43.9% win rate, scoring 3.05 and allowing 3.66. Vancouver at home went 9-27-5, a 22.0% win rate, scoring 2.46 and allowing 3.90. The Canucks were worse in their own arena than away from it. That half, their weakest, is not in our number, and it is the half that does not apply to a game in San Jose.
The season around it
Over the full 2025-26 season, San Jose went 39-35-8 with 86 points and a goal difference of -41. Vancouver went 25-49-8 with 58 points and a goal difference of -100. Both missed the playoffs. The Canucks scored 2.63 a game and allowed 3.85.
Close games went San Jose’s way. The Sharks went 22-5-8 in one-goal games and won 12 of the 20 that went past regulation. The Canucks went 15-9-8 in one-goal games and won 10 of their 18 past 60 minutes. The difference showed in lopsided games: Vancouver lost by two goals or more in 40 of 82, San Jose in 30 of 82.
The Sharks won three of the four meetings in 2025-26. In San Jose they won 3-2 on 28 November 2025, and the Canucks won 4-3 in a shootout on 11 April 2026. Those two are inside both halves of our number. The two games in Vancouver, Sharks wins of 6-3 on 27 December 2025 and 5-2 on 27 January 2026, are in neither half.
Pick: Canucks +164
Bet the Canucks on the moneyline at +164. The gap is 7.6 points toward Vancouver, against a threshold of 5.
The line read Canucks +164 and Sharks -198 on 28 October 2026 at 19:03 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at the same prices, +164 and -198, and has not moved.
What kills the bet
The bet dies if the Canucks price gets shorter. At +157 or longer the Canucks are a bet whatever San Jose is priced at. Against the Sharks at -198, they stay a bet down to +136.
For the Sharks to become the bet, they would have to be -104 or longer whatever the Canucks price, or +153 or longer against Vancouver at +164. They are -198.
The rest is on the ice. Vancouver’s start to this season, 3-10-1, is poor, and none of it is in our number. ESPN’s injury list (read 28 October 2026, 19:02 UTC) has Thatcher Demko on injured reserve with a hip injury, along with Akil Thomas and Mackenzie MacEachern, for Vancouver. San Jose lists Igor Chernyshov, Alexander Wennberg, Quentin Musty and goalie Kyle Keyser on injured reserve. Our number has not been re-run for any of these absences. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 6.5, over -125 and under +105. The Sharks’ games went over 6.5 in 42 of 82, a 51.2% rate. The Canucks’ games went over in 46 of 82, 56.1%. Sharks home games averaged 6.53 goals, Canucks road games 6.6.
Our over is 53.7%. With the margin removed the over is priced at 53.2% and the under at 46.8%, so our number leans to the over by 0.4 points. That is well under the threshold. Pass on the total.
On the puck line, San Jose is -1.5 at +120 and Vancouver +1.5 at -142, which is 43.7% and 56.3% without the margin. Over the full season the Sharks won by two goals or more in 17 of 82, and the Canucks lost by two or more in 40 of 82. Averaged, Sharks -1.5 lands 34.8% of the time against 43.7% priced, a gap of 8.9 points toward Canucks +1.5. Our method stakes the moneyline only, so this is a lean on the same side. One bet on this game: the Canucks at +164.
