Pistons vs Nets Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet the Nets at +280. Our number gives Brooklyn at home 30.5%; the price gives them 25.2%.
The Detroit Pistons are -355 and the Brooklyn Nets +280 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 74.8% for Detroit and 25.2% for Brooklyn. Last season’s home and road records put the Nets 5.3 points higher than that. We bet at 5.
How 30.5% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 regular-season rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Games at a neutral site are in neither half. Detroit played one and Brooklyn none.
The Nets went 12-29 at Barclays Center, a 29.3% home win rate over 41 games. The Pistons went 28-13 on the road, a 31.7% road loss rate over 41 games. The average is 30.5% for Brooklyn and 69.5% for Detroit.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At +280 and -355 the two come to 104.3%. With the margin taken out, the Nets are 25.2% and the Pistons 74.8%.
This season is not in our number. Brooklyn is 0-4, 0-2 at home, and lost its last game 125-124 in overtime at the Boston Celtics on Tuesday 27 October. Detroit is 4-1, 2-1 on the road, and beat the Charlotte Hornets 97-89 on Wednesday 28 October. Four and five games are too few to read as rates. The method also cannot see a roster that changed over the summer, and that is the main risk in this bet.
Brooklyn at home, Detroit on the road
At home the Nets scored 108.4 points a game and allowed 115.0, a deficit of 6.6. The Pistons on the road scored 116.8 and allowed 111.0, a surplus of 5.8.
Here are the halves the method leaves out. Brooklyn on the road went 8-33, scoring 103.5 and allowing 116.8. Detroit at home went 31-9, scoring 118.6 and allowing 108.2. Each of those is the stronger record for Detroit and the weaker one for Brooklyn, and neither enters our number.
Over the full regular season, the Pistons finished 60-22, first in the East, and outscored opponents by 8.2 points a game. The Nets finished 20-62, 13th, and were outscored by 10.0 a game. In the playoffs Detroit beat the Orlando Magic 4-3 and then lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-3. Brooklyn missed the playoffs.
The spread of results is wide. Detroit won 34 games by 10 or more and lost 8 by that much. Brooklyn won 12 by 10 or more and lost 43. In games decided by 5 points or fewer, the Pistons went 14-10 and the Nets 2-12. Fourteen close games is a small sample, and that record proves little on its own.
The Pistons won three of the four games between the teams. In Brooklyn, Detroit won 125-107 on 7 November 2025 and 138-100 on 10 March 2026. Those two games are in our number: they are two of the Nets’ 41 home games and two of the Pistons’ 41 road games. In Detroit, the Pistons won 130-77 on 1 February and the Nets won 107-105 on 7 March. Those two are in neither half.
Pick: Nets +280
Bet the Nets on the moneyline at +280. The gap is 5.3 points toward Brooklyn, against a threshold of 5. The edge clears the rule narrowly, and the price that keeps it sits close to the one posted.
The line read Nets +280 and Pistons -355 on 29 October 2026 at 19:02 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at Nets +250 and Pistons -310. At the open the market gave Brooklyn 27.4%, so the line has moved toward Detroit since, by 2.2 points.
What kills the bet
The bet dies if the Brooklyn price gets shorter. At +292 or longer, the Nets are a bet whatever Detroit is priced at. With the Pistons at -355, the Nets stay a bet down to +274 and no further.
For the Pistons to become the bet, they would need to be -182 or longer whatever Brooklyn is priced at. Against the current +280 on the Nets, Detroit would need +109 or longer. The posted price is -355.
ESPN’s game page, read 29 October 2026 at 19:02 UTC, lists Egor Demin (leg) and Tyler Bilodeau (shoulder) out for Brooklyn. For Detroit it lists Jalen Duren (hamstring) out and Isaiah Joe (hip) day-to-day. The list does not change our number. Check the lineups before you bet.
Our number still gives Brooklyn a 69.5% chance of losing. The case is that +280 pays more than that risk warrants, on last season’s evidence.
The total and the spread
The total is 227.5, over -110 and under -110. The Nets’ home games went over 227.5 in 19 of 41, a 46.3% rate. The Pistons’ road games went over in 18 of 41, a 43.9% rate. Brooklyn’s home games averaged 223.4 points and Detroit’s road games 227.8. Across all 82 games, the line was cleared in 33 of the Nets’ games and 39 of the Pistons’.
The two rates average 45.1% for the over. The market prices it at 50.0%, so our count leans to the under by 4.9 points. That is below the threshold of 5, and our method stakes the moneyline only. Pass on the total.
The spread is Pistons -8.5 at -105 and Nets +8.5 at -115, and it opened at 7.5. The Nets’ home games landed on Brooklyn’s side of 8.5 in 19 of 41. Detroit covered 8.5 on the road in 15 of 41. Our count has Nets +8.5 landing 54.9% of the time against 51.1% priced, a gap of 3.8 points. That is a lean on the same side, not a second bet. One bet on this game: the Nets at +280.
