Jaguars at Bengals Final Score: Jaguars Win 22-17
Final: Jacksonville Jaguars 22, Cincinnati Bengals 17, Sunday 4 October at Paycor Stadium.
Our call won. Before the game this page said: “Jacksonville is getting 2.5 in Cincinnati. I am taking the Jaguars and the points.” Jaguars +2.5 won: Jacksonville won by 5.
What decided it
Jacksonville won the second quarter by 7. Jacksonville turned the ball over 0 times to Cincinnati’s 2, and gained 323 yards to 437.
| Team | Q1 | Q2 | Q3 | Q4 | Final |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jacksonville Jaguars | 3 | 10 | 3 | 6 | 22 |
| Cincinnati Bengals | 0 | 3 | 7 | 7 | 17 |
The last DraftKings line ESPN holds for the game is CIN -2.5, with a total of 51.5. Cincinnati did not cover as the favourite. The 39 points went under the total.
What comes next
Jacksonville plays next against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday 11 October: our prediction. Cincinnati plays next at the Miami Dolphins on Sunday 11 October: our prediction.
The prediction, as published before the game
Everything below is the page as it stood before the game, kept unchanged as the record. It was titled “Jaguars at Bengals prediction: Take Jaguars +2.5”.
Jacksonville is getting 2.5 in Cincinnati. I am taking the Jaguars and the points.
My number is plain arithmetic. I take each team’s points differential per game from last season, subtract one from the other, and set the result against the spread. When the spread sits two points or more away from my number, it is a bet. Inside two points, I pass.
Pick: Jaguars +2.5
Jacksonville went 13-4 last season and outscored its opponents by 138 points. Cincinnati went 6-11 and was outscored by 78. Per game, that is plus 8.1 against minus 4.6. My number has Jacksonville better by close to 13 points, and the market has Cincinnati favoured by 2.5.
That is more than 15 points between my number and the price. Cincinnati allowed 28.9 points a game last season, and Jacksonville scored 27.9. The Bengals gave up, on average, about what the Jaguars scored, and I am being paid points to back the Jaguars.
Is the market seeing something I am not?
The price says Cincinnati is two and a half points better at home. I went looking for the reason. There are two candidates.
The first is the last meeting: Cincinnati beat Jacksonville 31-27 in Cincinnati on 14 September last year, their only game since 2025. The second is this season’s road form. Jacksonville has scored 34 and 35 at home and 13 in its one road game, a 20-13 loss at Denver.
Neither holds up for me. Last season Jacksonville went 6-2 on the road, scoring 27.6 a game and allowing 22.6. Cincinnati went 3-6 at home and allowed 29.4 a game there. One road game this season does not outweigh eight last season, and a four-point win a year ago does not outweigh 17 games of evidence.
This season so far
Both teams are 2-1. Jacksonville beat Cleveland 34-10, lost 20-13 at Denver and beat New England 35-6 on Sunday, and it is plus 46 on points. Cincinnati beat Tampa Bay 33-27, won 20-6 at Houston and lost 30-27 at Pittsburgh on Sunday, and it is plus 17.
Three games say the same thing as last season, only more quietly. Jacksonville has allowed 12.0 points a game. Cincinnati has allowed 21.0.
Where the price has gone
Cincinnati was first seen at -2.5 and -3 on 16 September. A -2 showed up on 23 September and a -1.5 on 28 September. The median has not moved off -2.5. Read on 1 October across 11 US sportsbooks, nine books hang 2.5, Bovada hangs 3 and BetUS hangs 2. At the books on 2.5, Jacksonville costs between -106 and +102, and DraftKings has it at -105, the same on ESPN. Bovada’s +3 costs -120.
Every price on this page is the median of the books in that read, taken at 07:10 UTC on 1 October 2026. Kickoff is Sunday 4 October at 1:00 PM ET.
Worst price I would take: Jaguars pick’em. My rule would go further and back Jacksonville as a favourite of up to 10.5. That is a bias and I am stating it: I will not lay double figures on the road on the strength of one season’s differential. The bet is the points.
The total
Fifty-one and a half, and no bet. Eight books hang 51.5 and three hang 51.
Cincinnati’s games went over 51.5 in 8 of 17 last season, and Jacksonville’s in 7. Cincinnati’s games averaged 53.3 total points and Jacksonville’s 47.6, so the number sits between the two. That is a market doing its job.
This season pulls the same two ways. Cincinnati’s three games have totalled 60, 26 and 57 points. Jacksonville’s have totalled 44, 33 and 41, and none of them reached 51.5. One side of this game plays high and the other plays low, and I am not guessing which one wins that argument.
What the moneyline says
The median moneylines are Jacksonville +123 and Cincinnati -143. With the bookmaker margin taken out, that is a 43.2 percent chance for Jacksonville to win outright.
The +123 pays more if Jacksonville wins. The 2.5 also pays on a one- or two-point loss. I want the cushion.
Last season, game by game
Jacksonville won its last six games of last season, five of them by 14 points or more. Nine of Cincinnati’s 11 losses came by five points or more. Those two rows are the whole argument.
Jaguars +2.5. Good down to pick’em.
