Bruins vs Penguins Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
No bet on Bruins at Penguins. Our number has Pittsburgh 3.4 points better than the price, and we need 5.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are -112 and the Boston Bruins -108 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 50.4% for Pittsburgh and 49.6% for Boston. The market calls this a coin flip with the home side a fraction ahead. We have the Penguins at 53.8%. That is the same side and a bigger lean, but the gap is too small to bet.
How 53.8% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Neutral-site games are left out. A side is a bet when our number and the market’s differ by at least 5 points.
The Penguins went 19-13-8 at PPG Paints Arena, a 47.5% home win rate. That is weak for a team that finished with 98 points. The Bruins went 16-16-8 on the road, a 60.0% road loss rate. Averaged, Pittsburgh is 53.8% and Boston 46.2%.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -112 and -108 they come to 104.8%. Taken out, the Penguins are 50.4% and the Bruins 49.6%. Our 53.8% sits 3.4 points above the price. The threshold is 5.
Every input is from 2025-26. This season is not in the figures, and the two teams have started it in very different places. The Penguins are 5-8-2, 4-2-1 at home, and lost 3-2 to Vegas on Tuesday 3 November. Arturs Silovs has played 10 of their games and Sergei Murashov 5. The Bruins are 11-4-1, 4-3-1 on the road, and beat Vegas 3-2 in a shootout on Monday 2 November. Jeremy Swayman has played 12 of their games and Michael DiPietro 4.
Pittsburgh at home, Boston on the road
The Penguins at home scored 3.65 a game and allowed 3.58, a surplus of 0.07. The Bruins on the road scored 3.05 and allowed 3.48, a deficit of 0.43. Both halves are poor. Boston’s is worse, and that is the whole lean.
The halves the method leaves out point the other way for each team. Pittsburgh on the road went 21-12-7, a 52.5% win rate, scoring 3.55 and allowing 3.08. Boston at home went 29-11-1, a 70.7% win rate, scoring 3.54 and allowing 2.56. The Bruins were a different team in their own arena, and that half is not in our number.
Over the full season the records were close. Boston went 45-27-10 with 100 points and a goal difference of 22, then lost its playoff series 2-4 to the Buffalo Sabres. Pittsburgh went 41-25-16 with 98 points and a goal difference of 25, then lost its series 2-4 to the Philadelphia Flyers.
Close games split them. The Bruins went 20-8-10 in one-goal games and won 12 of the 22 that went past regulation. The Penguins went 12-7-16 in one-goal games and won 7 of 23 past 60 minutes. Pittsburgh won by two goals or more 29 times and lost by two or more 18 times. Boston’s numbers were 25 and 19.
Boston won two of the three meetings in 2025-26, both at home: 1-0 on 11 January and 2-1 on 3 March. Those are in neither half of our number. The one game in Pittsburgh, a 5-4 Penguins win in overtime on 8 March, is in both halves.
Pick: No bet
No bet on this game. The gap is 3.4 points toward the Penguins against a threshold of 5. At -112 the price is close enough to our number that the margin eats most of the lean.
The line read Penguins -112 and Bruins -108 on 4 November 2026 at 16:32 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at the same prices, so the market has not moved.
What kills the bet
Here, what would make one. The Penguins become a bet at +105 or longer whatever Boston is priced at. Against Boston at the current -108, they become a bet at +102 or longer.
The Bruins become a bet at +143 or longer whatever Pittsburgh is priced at. Against Pittsburgh at the current -112, they would need +170 or longer. Boston is -108, a long way from either.
ESPN’s injury list has Evgeni Malkin day-to-day with a lower-body injury for Pittsburgh, and Elmer Soderblom, Bryan Rust, Trevor van Riemsdyk and Ryan Graves on injured reserve. Boston lists Matthew Poitras as day-to-day, undisclosed. No goalie is on either list. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 6.5, over -118 and under -102. The Penguins’ games went over 6.5 in 47 of 82, a 57.3% rate. The Bruins’ games went over in 42 of 82, a 51.2% rate. Pittsburgh’s home games averaged 7.23 goals, Boston’s road games 6.53.
Averaged, that is 54.3% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 51.7% and the under at 48.3%, so our number leans to the over by 2.5 points. Pass on the total.
On the puck line, Pittsburgh is -1.5 at +210 and Boston +1.5 at -258, which is 30.9% and 69.1% without the margin. Our number has Penguins -1.5 landing 29.3% of the time, a gap of 1.7 points. Our method stakes the moneyline only, and 1.7 is nowhere near a bet. Nothing on this game clears the threshold.
