Blue Jackets vs Stars Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

No bet on the Blue Jackets. Our number has Columbus 4.9 points better than the price, and a bet needs 5.

The Dallas Stars are -185 and the Columbus Blue Jackets +154 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 62.2% for Dallas and 37.8% for Columbus. Our number is 57.3% for Dallas and 42.7% for Columbus. The gap is 4.9 points toward the Blue Jackets, and it is the whole argument for passing.

How 57.3% is reached

Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Games at a neutral site are left out. A side is a bet when our number and the market’s differ by at least 5 points.

The Stars went 26-11-4 at American Airlines Center, a 63.4% home win rate. The Blue Jackets went 20-17-4 on the road, a 51.2% road loss rate. Average the two and Dallas is 57.3%, Columbus 42.7%.

The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -185 and +154 they come to 104.3%. Taken out, the Stars are 62.2% and the Blue Jackets 37.8%. Against our 42.7%, Columbus is underpriced by 4.9 points. The threshold is 5.0. The gap falls short of it, and a rule that bends for a near miss is no longer a rule.

No goalie is on either injury list, so the method runs on the full 2025-26 season with nothing removed. This season is not in the figures. Dallas is 7-5-1, 4-4-0 at home, and lost 5-2 to Montreal on Thursday 29 October. Jake Oettinger has played 10 of their games and Casey DeSmith 3. Columbus is 5-6-0, 1-3-0 on the road, and lost 3-2 at Carolina the same night. Jet Greaves has played 7 of their games and Cam Talbot 6. A few weeks of games are too few to read as rates, and we do not.

Dallas at home, Columbus on the road

Over the full season the Stars at home scored 3.29 a game and allowed 2.73, a surplus of 0.56. The Blue Jackets on the road scored 2.88 and allowed 3.1, a deficit of 0.22. These are the two halves in our number.

The halves the method leaves out: Dallas on the road went 24-9-8, a 58.5% win rate, scoring 3.51 and allowing 2.78. Columbus at home went 20-13-8, a 48.8% win rate, scoring 3.29 and allowing 3.07. The Stars were, by surplus, slightly better away from their own arena than in it. That half is not in our number.

The season around it

Dallas went 50-20-12 in 2025-26 for 112 points, with a goal difference of +53, scoring 3.4 a game and allowing 2.76. The Stars then lost their playoff series to Minnesota, 2-4. Columbus went 40-30-12 for 92 points, scored and allowed 3.09 a game for a goal difference of 0, and missed the playoffs.

The Stars went 28-6-12 in one-goal games. Of their 24 games past regulation, they won 12. Columbus went 18-13-12 in one-goal games, also won 12 of 24 past regulation, and won by two goals or more 22 times, the same count as Dallas. The Blue Jackets lost by two or more in 17 of 82 games, Dallas in 14.

Columbus won both games between these teams in 2025-26. On Tuesday 21 October 2025 the Blue Jackets won 5-1 in Dallas; that game is in both halves of our number. On Thursday 22 January 2026 they won 1-0 in Columbus, which is in neither half. Two games is a sample that proves nothing, and the method does not weight them.

Pick: No bet

No bet on this game. The gap is 4.9 points toward the Blue Jackets against a threshold of 5. The price says Columbus wins 37.8% of the time; our number says 42.7%. That difference is real but below the size we stake.

The line read Stars -185 and Blue Jackets +154 on 30 October 2026 at 19:04 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at the same prices, -185 and +154, so the market has not moved.

What kills the bet

Here the question runs the other way: what makes a bet. Against Dallas at -185, the Blue Jackets become a bet at +155 or longer, one step from the current +154. At +165 or longer they are a bet whatever Dallas is priced at. If the line moves that far before puck drop, the call changes to Columbus.

For the Stars to become the bet, they would have to be -109 or longer. They are -185.

ESPN’s injury list, read 30 October 2026 at 19:03 UTC, has Kyle Capobianco and Radek Faksa out for Dallas, and Esa Lindell, Oskar Back and Matt Duchene on injured reserve. Columbus has no one on the list. No goalie is on either side’s list, so nothing re-runs the method. Check the lineups before you bet.

The total and the puck line

The total is 5.5, over -115 and under -105. The Stars’ games went over 5.5 in 44 of 82, a 53.7% rate, and the Blue Jackets’ in 48 of 82, 58.5%. Dallas home games averaged 6.02 goals, Columbus road games 5.98.

The two rates average 56.1% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 51.1% and the under at 48.9%, so our number leans over by 5.0 points. Our method stakes the moneyline only. This is a lean, not a bet.

On the puck line, Dallas is -1.5 at +140 and Columbus +1.5 at -166, which is 40.0% and 60.0% without the margin. The Stars won by two or more in 22 of 82 games, and the Blue Jackets lost by two or more in 17 of 82. Averaged, Stars -1.5 lands 23.8% of the time against 40.0% priced, a gap of 16.3 points toward Blue Jackets +1.5. It leans the same way as the moneyline, toward Columbus, and it stays a lean: the method stakes the moneyline, and the moneyline gap is 4.9. No bet on this game.
