Mammoth at Bruins Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
We make Boston 59.8% to beat Utah at home. The Bruins are a bet at -121 or better, the Mammoth at +184 or better.
No line had been posted for this game when we read the market on 28 September 2026. So this page gives our number and the prices at which it turns into a bet. Our number is 59.8% for the Boston Bruins and 40.2% for the Utah Mammoth. A side is a bet when the market’s figure sits at least 5 points below ours.
How the number is built
The method is one clause: our home win chance is the average of the home team’s 2025-26 home win rate and the visitor’s 2025-26 road loss rate, with a win in overtime or a shootout counted as a win.
The Bruins went 29-11-1 at home last season. That is 29 wins, 11 regulation losses and 1 loss after regulation, a 70.7% home win rate over 41 games. The Mammoth went 21-17-3 on the road, so they lost 20 of 41, a 48.8% road loss rate. The average of the two unrounded rates is 59.76, which rounds to 59.8 for the Bruins and leaves 40.2 for the Mammoth.
It is a new season. Rosters change over a summer, and nothing on this page measures what changed. The evidence in hand is last season: 41 home games for Boston and 41 road games for Utah.
The Bruins at home, the Mammoth on the road
Boston was two different teams. At home it went 29-11-1 and outscored opponents by almost a goal a game, 3.54 scored and 2.56 allowed. On the road it went 16-16-9, a 39.0% win rate, and was outscored 3.54 to 3.10. The gap between its home and road win rates is 31.7 points. Our number uses the home half, and that is where the edge for Boston comes from.
Utah was the same team in both places. It went 22-16-3 at home and 21-17-3 on the road. On the road it scored 3.20 a game and allowed 2.83, so it outscored opponents away from home by 0.37 a game and still lost 20 of 41 there.
Across the full season the Bruins finished 45-27-10 with 100 points and outscored opponents by 0.27 goals a game (3.32 scored, 3.05 allowed). They lost their one playoff series, 4-2 to the Buffalo Sabres. The Mammoth finished 43-33-6 with 92 points and outscored opponents by 0.34 a game (3.27 scored, 2.93 allowed). They also lost their one series 4-2, to the Vegas Golden Knights.
On goals, Utah was the slightly better team over 82 games. On home and road results, which is what the method reads, Boston is the clear side in this building. That tension is the main risk to the number.
The teams met twice in 2025-26 and each won at home. Utah won 3-2 on 19 October, and Boston won 4-1 on 16 December. Two games prove nothing.
Pick: Bruins at -121 or better, Mammoth at +184 or better
With no line posted, the pick is a pair of prices. Our 59.8% for the Bruins, less the 5-point threshold, is 54.8%. A price of -121 or better (-115, -110 and so on) puts them at or below that, and Boston is a bet. Our 40.2% for the Mammoth, less 5, is 35.2%. At +184 or better, Utah is a bet. Anything between -121 on Boston and +184 on Utah is a pass.
Those are fair prices, with the margin taken out. A posted line carries a margin on both sides, so the posted pair has to be converted before it is compared. At -122 the Bruins gap is 4.8 points, and at +183 the Mammoth gap is 4.9. Both are passes.
It rests on 82 games, 41 at home for the Bruins and 41 on the road for the Mammoth, all from last season.
What changes it
The line. When a price is posted, the margin comes out of it, and the call is whatever side clears 5 points at that price, or a pass. The full page re-reads the line on the day.
The summer is the other thing. A season of home and road results says how these two teams played in 2025-26, and nothing on this page says who is in either lineup on 8 October. Check the lineups before you bet.
