Golden Knights vs Penguins Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
No bet on the Penguins at home. Our number has Pittsburgh 1.0 point better than the price, and we need 5.
The Vegas Golden Knights at Pittsburgh Penguins is priced Penguins -108 and Golden Knights -112 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 49.6% for Pittsburgh and 50.4% for Vegas. The market has this as a coin toss with Vegas a hair ahead, and our number has it as a coin toss with Pittsburgh a hair ahead. A gap that small is not an edge.
How 50.6% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Neutral-site games are left out of both.
The Penguins went 19-13-8 at PPG Paints Arena, a 47.5% home win rate. The Golden Knights went 19-14-8 on the road, a 53.7% road loss rate. Averaged, that puts Pittsburgh at 50.6% and Vegas at 49.4%.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -108 and -112 they come to 104.8%. Taken out, the Penguins are 49.6% and the Golden Knights 50.4%. Our 50.6% against the market’s 49.6% is a gap of 1.0 point toward Pittsburgh.
None of this season is in the figures. Pittsburgh is 5-7-2, though 4-1-1 at home, and lost 5-4 at Montreal on Saturday 31 October. Arturs Silovs has played nine of their games and Sergei Murashov five. Vegas is 9-5-1, 3-2-1 on the road, and lost 5-2 at home to New Jersey on Friday 30 October. Carter Hart has played eight of their games and Adin Hill seven.
Pittsburgh at home, Vegas on the road
The two halves the method uses were both close to break-even. The Penguins at home scored 3.65 a game and allowed 3.58, a surplus of 0.07. The Golden Knights on the road scored 2.90 and allowed 3.00, a deficit of 0.10.
The halves left out run the other way. Pittsburgh was better on the road than at home: 21-12-7, a 52.5% win rate, scoring 3.55 and allowing 3.08. Vegas was better at home: 20-12-9, 48.8%, scoring 3.56 and allowing 3.10. Each team’s stronger half sits outside our number, which is one reason the two rates land so near the middle.
The season around it
Over 82 games these two finished close. Pittsburgh went 41-25-16 with 98 points and a goal difference of +25, then lost its first-round series 2-4 to Philadelphia. Vegas went 39-26-17 with 95 points and a goal difference of +15. The Golden Knights beat Utah 4-2, Anaheim 4-2 and Colorado 4-0 before losing 2-4 to Carolina.
Both teams lived in one-goal games. The Penguins went 12-7-16 in them and won 7 of the 23 that went past regulation. The Golden Knights went 16-10-17 and won 9 of their 26 past 60 minutes. Pittsburgh won by two goals or more 29 times and lost by two or more 18 times; Vegas won by two or more 23 times and lost by two or more 16.
They split the two meetings in 2025-26. Pittsburgh won 5-0 at home on Sunday 1 March 2026, a game inside both halves of our number. Vegas won 6-2 at home on Thursday 12 March 2026, a game inside neither.
Pick: No bet
No bet on this game. The gap is 1.0 point toward the Penguins, against a threshold of 5.
The line read Penguins -108 and Golden Knights -112 on 2 November 2026 at 17:46 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at the same prices, so the market has not moved.
What kills the bet
Here the question runs the other way: what would make one. The Penguins become a bet at +120 or longer whatever Vegas is priced at; against Vegas at -112, they need +126 or longer. They are -108.
For the Golden Knights to become the bet, they would have to be +125 or longer whatever Pittsburgh is priced at, or +141 or longer against Pittsburgh at -108. They are -112. Both sides are a long way from those prices.
ESPN’s injury list, read 2 November 2026, has Evgeni Malkin and Kaedan Korczak day-to-day with lower-body injuries for Pittsburgh, and Elmer Soderblom, Bryan Rust and Trevor van Riemsdyk on injured reserve. Vegas lists Parker Wotherspoon on injured reserve with an upper-body injury. No goalie is on either list. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 6.5, over -125 and under +105. The Penguins’ games went over 6.5 in 47 of 82, the Golden Knights’ in 38 of 82. Pittsburgh’s home games averaged 7.23 goals; Vegas’s road games averaged 5.90.
That is 57.3% and 46.3%, an average of 51.8% for the over. With the margin out the over is priced at 53.2% and the under at 46.8%, so our number leans to the under by 1.4 points. Pass on the total.
On the puck line, Vegas is -1.5 at +200 and Pittsburgh +1.5 at -245, which is 31.9% and 68.1% without the margin. The Golden Knights won by two goals or more in 23 of 82 games, and the Penguins lost by two or more in 18 of 82. Averaged, Vegas -1.5 lands 25.0% of the time against 31.9% priced, a gap of 6.9 points toward Penguins +1.5. Our method stakes the moneyline only, and the moneyline is a pass. That makes Penguins +1.5 a lean on the side our number already prefers, never a bet. No bet on this game.
