NFL Coach of the Year Odds: Kevin O’Connell Leads at +600

NFL Coach of the Year odds and predictions 2026 graphic featuring the Coach of the Year trophy and silhouetted NFL coaches in a dramatic stadium setting.

Kevin O’Connell of the Minnesota Vikings is the favorite for NFL Coach of the Year at +600 at DraftKings, a 14.3% implied chance, with the Vikings 5-0. Klint Kubiak of Las Vegas is next at +1000, and the Raiders are 3-2.

The board was read at 11:18 UTC on Saturday, October 17, 2026, during Week 6: Denver beat Seattle 17-14 on Thursday, and the rest of the week is played on Sunday and Monday. When this page was last updated, on September 25, Kellen Moore of New Orleans led at +600. The Saints are 1-4 and Moore is +3500, fifth on the board. It prices 12 of the league’s 32 head coaches, and Mike Vrabel, who won the award for the 2025 season with New England, is +7000.

The implied chance is 100 divided by the price plus 100. The 12 prices add up to 44.1%, so more than half of the probability sits with the 20 coaches who have no price posted, including those of the 5-0 49ers and the 4-0 Chiefs. Records are ESPN’s standings as read at 11:22 UTC on October 17.

This is the market for the 2026 season. ESPN files it under season 2026, the 2025 award has already gone to Vrabel, and every coach on the board is listed as his team’s head coach for 2026 in ESPN’s season coaching records.

How the board moved

On September 25, Moore was +600 and O’Connell and Kubiak were both +900. Since then the Vikings have stayed unbeaten and O’Connell has taken the top spot, while the Saints have fallen to 1-4 and Moore has drifted to +3500. Houston was +4500 for Ryans then and is +7000 now, at 1-4, and the Chargers’ 0-5 start has pushed Harbaugh from +8000 to +15000, the longest price on the board.

The turnaround prices

Four of the five shortest prices belong to coaches whose teams had losing records in 2025. Las Vegas and the Jets both went 3-14, New Orleans went 6-11 and Carolina 8-9. Of those four, only Kubiak’s Raiders have a winning record so far, at 3-2.

The coaches of winning teams

O’Connell is the exception at the top. Minnesota went 9-8 in 2025, and he has won the award before, for 2024, when the Vikings went 14-3 after a 7-10 season.

The coaches of last season’s best records sit further back. Payton’s Denver and Vrabel’s New England both went 14-3 in 2025; the Broncos are 4-2 and Payton is +4000, and the Patriots are 3-2 with Vrabel at +7000. Houston went 12-5 and is 1-4, and Ryans shares the +7000 price with Vrabel.

2024Kevin O’ConnellMinnesota Vikings14-37-10

Both winners improved by seven games or more, and Vrabel also won the award for 2021 with Tennessee. The Associated Press gives the award. For the 2025 season its panel of 50 media members voted before the playoffs began, so a postseason run did not count toward it.

What the prices say

At +600, O’Connell needs to win the award 14.3% of the time for a bet to break even. At +3500, Moore needs 2.8%, and at +7000, Vrabel needs 1.4%. A Coach of the Year bet is worth making only when you rate a coach’s chance higher than the price does.
