Hawks vs Rockets Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
No bet on Hawks +170. Our number gives Atlanta 40.2% on the road, the price gives 35.5%, and the 4.7-point gap is short of the 5 we bet at.
The Atlanta Hawks at Houston Rockets is priced Hawks +170 and Rockets -205 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 35.5% for Atlanta and 64.5% for Houston. Last season’s home and road records put Atlanta 4.7 points higher than the market does. We bet a side only when the gap reaches 5 points, so this prediction is a pass.
How 40.2% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 regular-season rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Neither team played a game at a neutral site, so nothing was left out of either half.
The Rockets went 30-11 at Toyota Center, a 73.2% home win rate over 41 games. The Hawks went 22-19 on the road, a 46.3% road loss rate over 41 games. The midpoint is 59.8% for Houston and 40.2% for Atlanta.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair adds to more than 100%. At +170 and -205 the two come to 104.3%. Taken out, the Hawks are 35.5% and the Rockets 64.5%.
This season so far
Our number reads 2025-26 only. The new season is outside it. Houston is 3-0, 1-0 at home, and beat Atlanta 121-114 in Atlanta on Saturday 24 October. Atlanta is 2-1, with that loss at home and a 2-0 record on the road.
Three games is too few to tell us anything, and the method does not try. Rosters also change over a summer, and the number cannot see that.
Houston at home, Atlanta on the road
At home the Rockets scored 114.8 points a game and allowed 107.3, a margin of 7.5. The Hawks on the road scored 119.1 and allowed 118.1, a margin of 1.0. Those two splits are the whole of our number.
The halves the method leaves out: Atlanta at home went 24-17, scoring 117.8 and allowing 114.0. Houston on the road went 22-19, scoring 115.7 and allowing 112.7.
The season around it
The Rockets finished 52-30, fifth in the Western Conference, with a point difference of 5.2 a game. The Hawks finished 46-36, sixth in the Eastern Conference, at 2.5 a game. Both went out of the playoffs 4-2: Houston to the Los Angeles Lakers, Atlanta to the New York Knicks.
Close games, decided by 5 points or fewer, went 14-12 for Houston and 9-10 for Atlanta. Houston played 8 overtime games and Atlanta 2. The Hawks won by 10 or more 33 times and lost by 10 or more 19 times. The Rockets did so 27 and 11 times.
Houston won both games between the two last season. On Thursday 29 January in Atlanta it won 104-86. That game is in neither half of our number. On Friday 20 March in Houston it won 117-95. That one is in our number, as one of the Rockets’ 41 home games and one of the Hawks’ 41 road games.
Pick: No bet
No bet on the moneyline. The gap is 4.7 points toward Atlanta, against a threshold of 5.
The line read Hawks +170 and Rockets -205 at DraftKings via ESPN on 26 October 2026 at 16:03 UTC. It opened at Hawks +180 and Rockets -218. Since the open, the market gives the Hawks 1.3 points more, 35.5% against 34.3%, so the move has been toward Atlanta. That move is what closed the gap below 5.
At -205 the market has Houston about right by our measure. The Rockets’ 73.2% home rate is the strongest number on the page. The Hawks’ 46.3% road loss rate pulls it down to 59.8%, and 64.5% is close enough to that to leave no bet.
What kills the bet
A longer Atlanta price makes the Hawks a bet. With the Rockets at -205, that happens at +174 or longer. At +184 or longer, Atlanta is a bet whatever Houston is priced at.
The Rockets become the bet only at a much longer price. They are a bet at -121 or longer whatever the Hawks are priced at. With Atlanta held at +170, Houston would have to reach +123.
ESPN’s game page, read 26 October 2026 at 16:00 UTC, lists Steven Adams (calf) out and Marcus Smart (forearm) day-to-day for Houston. For Atlanta it lists Mouhamed Gueye (foot) and Henri Veesaar (knee) out. The list is not part of our number and does not change the call. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the spread
The total is 229.5, over -112 and under -108. The Rockets’ home games went over 229.5 in 13 of 41, a 31.7% rate, and averaged 222.1 points. The Hawks’ road games went over in 26 of 41, a 63.4% rate, and averaged 237.2. Across all 82 games, Houston went over in 32 and Atlanta in 47.
The two road and home rates average 47.6% for the over. The market prices the over at 50.4% and the under at 49.6% with the margin out. That is 2.9 points toward the under. That is under the threshold, and the method stakes the moneyline only, so we pass on the total.
The spread is Rockets -4.5 at -115 and Hawks +4.5 at -105. It opened Rockets -5.5. The Rockets’ home games beat this line 24 of 41 times, and the Hawks’ road games 24 of 41. Our count puts Houston covering at 50.0%, against 51.1% priced, a 1.1-point lean to Hawks +4.5. That is too thin to count for anything. No bet on this game.
