Wizards vs Hornets Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet the Hornets on the moneyline. Our number gives Charlotte at home 68.3%; the market gives them 54.3%.
The Washington Wizards are +110 and the Charlotte Hornets -130 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 45.7% for Washington and 54.3% for Charlotte. Last season’s home and road records put Charlotte 14.0 points higher than the market. We bet at 5.
How 68.3% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 regular-season rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Neutral-site games are in neither half. Neither team played one.
The Hornets went 21-20 at Spectrum Center, a 51.2% home win rate over 41 games. The Wizards went 6-35 on the road and lost 35 of 41, an 85.4% road loss rate. The midpoint is 68.3% for Charlotte and 31.7% for Washington.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair adds up to more than 100%. At -130 and +110 they come to 104.1%. Taken out, the Hornets are 54.3% and the Wizards 45.7%.
Both teams are 2-1 in 2026-27. Charlotte is 1-1 at home and beat the Miami Heat 115-110 on Saturday 24 October. Washington is 1-0 on the road and won 124-120 at the Chicago Bulls the same night. Our number reads 2025-26 only, so none of these games is in it. Three games prove nothing in either direction.
Charlotte at home, Washington on the road
At home the Hornets scored 115.0 points a game and allowed 111.1, a surplus of 3.9. The Wizards on the road scored 112.1 and allowed 125.2, a deficit of 13.1.
The halves the method leaves out cut against the home team’s half. Charlotte was better away from home: 23-18 on the road, scoring 117.0 and allowing 111.2, a surplus of 5.8. Washington went 11-30 at home, scoring 113.7 and allowing 124.5. The Hornets’ 51.2% home rate is the weaker of their two splits, so the number we use is the less flattering one for the side we back.
Over the full season, the Hornets finished 44-38, ninth in the East, and outscored opponents by 4.8 points a game. The Wizards finished 17-65, fifteenth, and were outscored by 12.0 a game. Neither made the playoffs. Charlotte won 32 games by 10 or more and lost 19 that way; Washington won 8 by 10 or more and lost 51.
Games decided by 5 points or fewer did not favour Charlotte. The Hornets went 5-11 in them, the Wizards 5-9. Each team played 3 overtime games.
The Hornets won all four meetings. In Charlotte they won 126-109 on 23 December 2025 and 119-115 on 24 January 2026; those games are in our number, two of the Hornets’ 41 home games and two of the Wizards’ 41 road games. In Washington they won 139-113 on 26 October 2025 and 129-112 on 22 February 2026; those are in neither half.
Pick: Hornets -130
Bet the Hornets on the moneyline at -130. The gap is 14.0 points toward Charlotte, against a threshold of 5.
The line read Hornets -130 and Wizards +110 on 26 October 2026 at 13:04 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at Hornets -142 and Wizards +120. At the open the market gave Charlotte 56.3%, so since opening it has moved toward Washington by 2.1 points.
What kills the bet
A much shorter Charlotte price. At -172 or longer the Hornets are a bet whatever Washington is priced at. With the Wizards at +110, Charlotte stays a bet at -465 or longer.
For the Wizards to become the bet, their price would have to reach +274 or longer whatever Charlotte is priced at. Against the Hornets at -130, it would take +385 or longer. Washington is +110.
ESPN’s injury list for the game, read 26 October 2026, has four Hornets out: Kon Knueppel (hamstring), Coby White (calf), Grant Williams (hamstring) and Kylan Boswell (knee). It has three Wizards out: AJ Dybantsa (ankle), Tristan Vukcevic (hip) and Jamir Watkins (knee). The method reads 2025-26 rates only, so the list does not change the number. Four absences on the side we back is the main risk in this bet. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the spread
The total is 228.5, over -108 and under -112. The Hornets’ home games went over 228.5 in 21 of 41, the Wizards’ road games in 27 of 41. Charlotte’s home games averaged 226.1 points, Washington’s road games 237.3. Across all 82 games, 39 of Charlotte’s and 54 of Washington’s went over.
That is 51.2% and 65.9%, an average of 58.5% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 49.6% and the under at 50.4%, so our count leans to the over by 9.0 points. Our method stakes the moneyline only, so this is a lean, not a bet.
The spread is Hornets -2.5 at -102 and Wizards +2.5 at -118, unchanged from the open. Charlotte won by 3 or more in 21 of 41 home games. Washington won, or lost by 2 or fewer, in 8 of 41 road games. Averaged, Hornets -2.5 lands 65.9% of the time against 48.3% priced, a gap of 17.6 points. That lean sits on the same side as the pick. One bet on this game: the Hornets at -130.
