Timberwolves vs Cavaliers Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet the Timberwolves at +150. Our number gives Minnesota on the road 45.1%; the price gives them 38.4%.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are +150 and the Cleveland Cavaliers -180 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 38.4% for Minnesota and 61.6% for Cleveland. Last season’s home and road records put Minnesota 6.7 points higher than the price does. We bet at 5.
How 45.1% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 regular-season rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Games at a neutral site are in neither half. Neither team played one.
The Cavaliers went 27-14 at Rocket Arena, a 65.9% home win rate over 41 games. The Timberwolves went 23-18 on the road and lost 18 of 41, a 43.9% road loss rate. The midpoint is 54.9% for Cleveland and 45.1% for Minnesota.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At +150 and -180 they come to 104.3%. With it removed, the Timberwolves are 38.4% and the Cavaliers 61.6%.
This season is not in our number. Minnesota is 3-0, 2-0 on the road, and beat the Toronto Raptors 117-94 on Sunday 25 October. Cleveland is 1-1, 1-0 at home, and beat the Brooklyn Nets 125-121 on Saturday 24 October. Three games and two games describe nothing yet. Rosters also change over a summer, and the number cannot see that. That is the main risk in this bet.
Cleveland at home, Minnesota on the road
At home the Cavaliers scored 119.2 points a game and allowed 114.6, a margin of 4.6. The Timberwolves on the road scored 121.2 and allowed 118.2, a margin of 3.0. The gap between those two margins is smaller than a -180 price implies.
The halves the method leaves out: Minnesota at home went 26-15, scoring 114.8 and allowing 111.1. Cleveland on the road went 25-16, scoring 119.9 and allowing 116.2.
The season around it
Over the full 2025-26 season the Cavaliers finished 52-30, the fourth seed in the East, scoring 119.5 and allowing 115.4, a difference of 4.1 points a game. The Timberwolves finished 49-33, the sixth seed in the West, scoring 118.0 and allowing 114.6, a difference of 3.4.
Close games, decided by 5 points or fewer, split them more: Cleveland went 13-7 in those, Minnesota 11-12. Cleveland played 3 overtime games, Minnesota 4. The blowouts are almost level. The Cavaliers won 27 by 10 or more and lost 17 that way; the Timberwolves won 28 and lost 18.
In the playoffs Cleveland beat the Toronto Raptors 4-3 and the Detroit Pistons 4-3, then lost to the New York Knicks 4-0. Minnesota beat the Denver Nuggets 4-2 and lost to the San Antonio Spurs 4-2.
The two meetings split. In Minneapolis on Thursday 8 January 2026, the Timberwolves won 131-122; that game is in neither half. In Cleveland on Saturday 10 January 2026, the Cavaliers won 146-134. That game is in our number: one of the Cavaliers’ 41 home games and one of the Timberwolves’ 41 road games.
Pick: Timberwolves +150
Bet the Timberwolves on the moneyline at +150. The gap is 6.7 points toward Minnesota, against a threshold of 5.
The line read Timberwolves +150 and Cavaliers -180 on 26 October 2026 at 15:13 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at Timberwolves +142 and Cavaliers -170. Since opening the market has moved toward Cleveland: it gives the Cavaliers 61.6%, against 60.4% at the open.
What kills the bet
A shorter Minnesota price. At +150 or longer the Timberwolves are a bet whatever Cleveland is priced at. With the Cavaliers at -180, they stay a bet down to +132.
For Cleveland to become the bet, the Cavaliers would have to reach +101 or longer whatever Minnesota is priced at, or +151 or longer against the current Timberwolves price of +150. At -180 they are nowhere near it.
ESPN’s game page, read 26 October 2026 at 15:12 UTC, lists Donte DiVincenzo (Achilles) out for Minnesota and no one for Cleveland. Our method does not adjust for that list, so it does not change the number. Check the lineups before you bet.
Our number still gives Minnesota a 54.9% chance of losing. The case is that +150 pays more than that risk warrants, on last season’s evidence.
The total and the spread
The total is 233.5, over -112 and under -108. The Cavaliers’ home games went over 233.5 in 18 of 41, a 43.9% rate, and averaged 233.8 points. The Timberwolves’ road games went over in 23 of 41, a 56.1% rate, and averaged 239.4.
That averages to 50.0% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 50.4% and the under at 49.6%. The gap is 0.4 points, which is nothing. Pass on the total.
The spread is Cavaliers -4.5 at -105 and Timberwolves +4.5 at -115, unchanged from the open. Cleveland beat this line in 26 of 41 home games, and Minnesota beat it in 26 of 41 road games. That count gives Cleveland a 50.0% chance to cover against 48.9% priced, a gap of 1.1 points, well under the threshold of 5. It is not a reason to do anything. Our method stakes the moneyline: one bet on this game, the Timberwolves at +150.
