Hornets vs Wizards Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

Bet the Hornets on the moneyline in Washington. Our number gives Charlotte 64.6%; the price gives them 51.1%.

The Charlotte Hornets are -115 and the Washington Wizards -105 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 51.1% for Charlotte and 48.9% for Washington. Last season’s home and road records put Charlotte 13.5 points higher than the market does. We bet at 5.

How 35.4% is reached

Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 regular-season rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Neutral-site games sit in neither half. Neither team played one, so nothing is left out.

The Wizards went 11-30 at Capital One Arena, a 26.8% home win rate over 41 games. The Hornets went 23-18 on the road, a 43.9% road loss rate over 41 games. The average is 35.4% for Washington and 64.6% for Charlotte.

The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -115 and -105 the two prices come to 104.7%. With it taken out, the Hornets are 51.1% and the Wizards 48.9%. The market reads this as close to a coin flip. Our number does not.

This season so far

Our number reads 2025-26 only. The 2026-27 games are outside it. Charlotte is 3-2 and 1-1 on the road; its last game was a 97-89 loss at the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday 28 October. Washington is 2-3 and 1-1 at home, and lost 121-111 at the Cleveland Cavaliers on the same night.

Five games each is too few to say anything. Rosters also change over a summer, and the method cannot see that. That is the main risk in this bet.

Washington at home, Charlotte on the road

At home the Wizards scored 113.7 points a game and allowed 124.5, a deficit of 10.8. The Hornets on the road scored 117.0 and allowed 111.2, a surplus of 5.8. Charlotte was a better team away from home than at home last season.

The halves the method leaves out: Charlotte at home went 21-20, scoring 115.0 and allowing 111.1. Washington on the road went 6-35, scoring 112.1 and allowing 125.2. Neither half is in our number, and both point the same way.

The season around it

The Wizards finished 17-65, 15th in the Eastern Conference, and were outscored by 12.0 points a game. They won 8 games by 10 or more and lost 51 by 10 or more. The Hornets finished 44-38, ninth in the East, and outscored opponents by 4.8 a game, with 32 wins by 10 or more and 19 losses by that much. Both teams missed the playoffs.

Close games, decided by 5 points or fewer, went poorly for both: Washington 5-9, Charlotte 5-11. Each team played 3 overtime games.

The Hornets won all four meetings. In Washington, they won 139-113 on 26 October 2025 and 129-112 on 22 February 2026. Those games are in our number: two of the Wizards’ 41 home games and two of the Hornets’ 41 road games. In Charlotte, the Hornets won 126-109 on 23 December 2025 and 119-115 on 24 January 2026. Those are in neither half.

Pick: Hornets -115

Bet the Hornets on the moneyline at -115. The gap is 13.5 points toward Charlotte, against a threshold of 5.

The line read Hornets -115 and Wizards -105 on 29 October 2026 at 19:02 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at the same prices, Hornets -115 and Wizards -105. It has not moved.

What kills the bet

A shorter Charlotte price. At -147 or longer the Hornets are a bet whatever Washington is priced at. With the Wizards at -105, they stay a bet down to -311.

For the Wizards to become the bet, they would need to be +229 or longer whatever the Hornets price is, or +328 or longer against the Hornets at -115. They are -105.

ESPN’s injury list for the game, read 29 October 2026 at 19:02 UTC, has Kon Knueppel (hamstring), Coby White (calf), Grant Williams (hamstring) and Kylan Boswell (knee) out for Charlotte. For Washington it has Justin Champagnie (foot), Tristan Vukcevic (hip) and Jamir Watkins (knee) out, and Tre Johnson (Achilles) day-to-day. The method reads last season’s team records, so the list does not change the number. Charlotte’s four absences are the second risk in this bet. Check the lineups before you bet.

Our number still gives Charlotte a 35.4% chance of losing. The case is that the market, with the margin out, gives Washington 48.9%.

The total and the spread

The total is 223.5, over -110 and under -110. The Wizards’ home games went over 223.5 in 32 of 41, a 78.0% rate. The Hornets’ road games went over in 22 of 41, 53.7%. Washington’s home games averaged 238.2 points, Charlotte’s road games 228.2. Over the full season, 62 of the Wizards’ 82 games and 47 of the Hornets’ 82 went over this line.

That averages to 65.9% for the over. The market prices it at 50.0%, so our count leans to the over by 15.9 points. Our method stakes the moneyline only, so this is a lean, not a bet.

The spread is Hornets -1.5 at -105 and Wizards +1.5 at -115. It opened at the same numbers. Washington beat this line in 11 of 41 home games; Charlotte covered it in 23 of 41 road games. Averaged, Wizards +1.5 lands 35.4% of the time against 51.1% priced, a gap of 15.7 points toward Hornets -1.5. That is a lean on the same side. One bet on this game: the Hornets at -115.
