Lakers vs Pistons Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

No bet on the Pistons. Our number puts Detroit 3.7 points above the price, and we bet at 5.

The Los Angeles Lakers at Detroit Pistons is priced Lakers +111 and Pistons -132 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 45.4% for Los Angeles and 54.6% for Detroit. Last season’s home and road records give the Pistons 58.3%. The gap is 3.7 points toward Detroit, against a threshold of 5.

How 58.3% is reached

Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 regular-season rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. A side is a bet when our number and the market’s differ by at least 5 points. Games at a neutral site are in neither half. Detroit played one, which is left out. Los Angeles played none.

The Pistons went 31-9 at Little Caesars Arena, a 77.5% home win rate over 40 games. The Lakers went 25-16 on the road, a 39.0% road loss rate over 41 games. The midpoint is 58.3% for Detroit and 41.7% for Los Angeles.

The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair adds to more than 100%. At -132 and +111 the pair comes to 104.3%. Taken out, the Pistons are 54.6% and the Lakers 45.4%. Our 58.3% sits above that, but not far enough.

This season is outside the method. The Pistons are 6-2, 2-1 at home, and lost their last game 112-106 to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday 4 November. The Lakers are 8-2, 3-1 on the road, and beat the Portland Trail Blazers 124-118 on Friday 6 November. None of those games is in our number, which reads 2025-26 only.

Detroit at home, Los Angeles on the road

At home the Pistons scored 118.6 points a game and allowed 108.2, a margin of 10.4. On the road the Lakers scored 114.7 and allowed 115.2, a margin of -0.5. Those are the two halves the method uses.

Close games, decided by 5 points or fewer, went the other way. The Lakers were 11-4 in them and the Pistons 14-10. Detroit played 5 overtime games, Los Angeles 1. In the playoffs the Pistons beat the Orlando Magic 4-3 and lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-3. The Lakers beat the Houston Rockets 4-2 and were swept 4-0 by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Pistons won both meetings. In Los Angeles on Tuesday 30 December 2025 they won 128-106; that game is in neither half of our number. In Detroit on Monday 23 March 2026 they won 113-110; that game is in our number, one of the Pistons’ 40 home games and one of the Lakers’ 41 road games.

Pick: No bet

No bet on this moneyline. The gap is 3.7 points toward the Pistons, and our rule needs 5. Below that, the edge is smaller than the error we accept in a method built on one season of home and road records.

The line read Lakers +111 and Pistons -132 on 7 November 2026 at 21:33 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at the same prices, Lakers +111 and Pistons -132, so the market has not moved since opening.

The price is close to right. The market has Detroit at 54.6%, our number at 58.3%, and both say the Pistons are the more likely winner by a margin a single season of data cannot separate from noise.

What kills the bet

A longer Detroit price turns this into a bet. At -114 or longer the Pistons are a bet whatever the Lakers are priced at. With the Lakers at +111, the Pistons become a bet at -118 or longer.

For the Lakers to be the bet, the price has to move a long way. At +173 or longer they are a bet whatever Detroit is priced at. Against the current Pistons price of -132, the line is +203. They are at +111.

ESPN’s injury list, read 7 November 2026 at 21:33 UTC, has Isaiah Joe (hip) and Jalen Duren (hamstring) out for Detroit. The Lakers list no one. The method reads last season’s results, so the list does not change the number. Check the lineups before you bet.

The total and the spread

Averaged, the over lands 55.5% of the time against 50.0% priced, a lean of 5.5 points to the over. That clears our threshold in size, but our method stakes the moneyline only. This is a lean, not a bet.

The spread is Pistons -2.5 at -110 and Lakers +2.5 at -110, unchanged from the open. The Pistons covered -2.5 in 28 of 40 home games. The Lakers covered +2.5 in 25 of 41 road games. Averaged, Pistons -2.5 lands 54.5% of the time against 50.0% priced, a gap of 4.5 points. That is a lean on the same side as the moneyline, and below the threshold. No bet on this game.
