Our number leans to the Kraken, but 4.7 points is short of a bet. No bet.
The Seattle Kraken are -135 against the Calgary Flames at +114 at DraftKings. With the margin removed, that is a 55.1% chance for the Kraken. Our number is 59.8%. The gap is 4.7 points, and a side is a bet only when the gap is 5 or more.
How the number is built
One clause: our home win chance is the average of the home team’s 2025-26 home win rate and the visitor’s 2025-26 road loss rate, where a win in overtime or a shootout counts as a win.
The Kraken went 19-17-5 at home, meaning 19 wins, 17 regulation losses and 5 losses after regulation. That is a 46.3% home win rate over 41 games. The Flames went 11-26-4 on the road and lost 30 of 41, a 73.2% road loss rate. The average is 59.8% for the Kraken, 40.2% for the Flames.
The margin is the few points a book builds into both prices so that they add to more than 100%. Removed from -135 and +114, it leaves the Kraken at 55.1% and the Flames at 44.9%.
It is a new season. Rosters change over a summer, and this page has no measure of what changed. Last season is the only evidence in hand: 41 home games for the Kraken and 41 road games for the Flames. The same two teams meet at Calgary on 1 October, and that game is not in these figures.
The Kraken at home, the Flames on the road
The Kraken at home scored 2.95 goals a game and allowed 3.05. The Flames on the road scored 2.24 and allowed 3.71.
The two halves are far apart. The Kraken lost more home games than they won, 22 of 41. The Flames were much worse away: 11 road wins, against 23 at home. Our number is carried by the road half, and the price leans the same way, only less.
Over the full season the Kraken finished 34-37-11 with 79 points and were outscored by 0.45 goals a game. The Flames finished 34-39-9 with 77 points, outscored by 0.57 a game. Neither team reached the playoffs.
The teams met three times in 2025-26. The Flames won 4-2 at home on 19 December. The Kraken won 5-1 at Calgary on 6 January and 4-1 at home on 11 April. Three games are a small sample, and the method does not use them.
Both teams also play the night before, on 3 October: the Kraken at Edmonton, the Flames at Vancouver. The method does not account for back-to-back games, and neither game is in these figures.
Pick: no bet
No bet on the moneyline. The gap is 4.7 points against a 5-point threshold.
The Kraken opened at -135 and the Flames at +114, and neither had moved when read on 24 September 2026 at 04:32 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN.
What changes it
A longer price on either side. The Kraken become a bet at -121 or better, whatever the Flames are priced at. The Flames become a bet at +185 or longer.
A price is only one of the unknowns. This page states nothing about either lineup on 4 October. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 5.5, with the over and the under both at -110. The Kraken’s games went over 5.5 in 45 of 82 and the Flames’ in 43 of 82. The Kraken’s home games averaged 6.00 goals, the Flames’ road games 5.95.
Together that is 88 overs in 164 games, 53.7%. Two prices of -110 carry equal margin, so the over is priced at 50.0%. The gap is 3.7 points. Pass on the total.
The puck line has the Kraken -1.5 at +180 and the Flames +1.5 at -218. The Kraken won by two goals or more in 21 of 82 games. The Flames lost by two or more in 33 of 82. Averaged, Kraken -1.5 lands 32.9% of the time against 34.3% priced. Pass on the puck line.
