Pittsburgh Panthers

College Basketball

Backing the Panthers to win at home in 2025-26 lost 6.15 units over 17 priced games, more than all but 19 Division I teams lost on their own floor. The same 18 home games went over the total 13 times.

Home, the expensive place

Pitt went 8-10 at home. The defeats began early, as a -1200 favorite against Quinnipiac, 83-75 in November, and a -425 favorite against Hofstra, 80-73 in December. By the end, one unit on every priced home game was 6.15 down, and only 19 teams in the country did worse at home.

Against the spread the home number was 8 covers in 17, close to the season rate, so the damage sat in the outright result rather than the margin.

The road upsets

The three best prices Pitt cashed were 72-56 at California at +260, 71-69 at Syracuse at +215, and 67-66 over Ohio State at +210, the last of them at home with no spread posted. Across the 20 underdog games, though, the record was 5-15 and the moneyline lost 5.42. Straight up on the road Pitt was 3-8, and two of those three road wins are the Cal and Syracuse upsets above.

Thirty-three games

Over 33 games the Panthers went 13-20 and covered 15 of the 32 with a spread. January was the hole: 2-6, two covers, 4.29 units gone. March was the only month to finish ahead, 1.95 units on a 2-2 record with three covers.
