Week 10 is the heaviest division week of the season so far. Seven of the fourteen games are divisional and four of them are second meetings — the point where the head-to-head tiebreakers start being settled rather than opened.
Chicago, Denver, Philadelphia and Tampa Bay are out. What is left is half a card of teams that already know exactly what the other one wants to do.

The Take: The rematches arrive
By the second meeting, the unfamiliar half of football has already been played. What is left is adjustment: the counter to the plan that worked, and the counter to that. Games get flatter, margins get smaller and the kicking game starts deciding more of them.
Our view: in a rematch, weigh the first result less than the first margin. A three-point September win between division rivals tells you the teams are level. The market often reads it as a win.

The return fixture in the division, with the head-to-head either level or on the line. A short week cuts the install, not the legs. The simpler team usually handles it better, whatever the rest narrative says. We would rather have the points here than the opinion.

Non-conference, played once every four years by rotation, so neither side has much recent tape on the other. A 9:30 AM ET kickoff from abroad. Both teams are out of routine, which is the point and also the reason to be careful with it. Our read: this is a total to look at before it is a side.

Cross-conference, so nothing here settles a tiebreaker, which is exactly why it gets overread. A retractable roof, which takes the weather out of the question if they want it out. We would take the home side’s price more seriously than the home side’s reputation.

A conference fixture with no return game, so whatever this settles, it settles once. The early window, where the schedule puts games it does not expect to argue about. We think the honest answer is that this one is close, and close games are where prices get lazy.

The return game in the division. It is the fixture most likely to look nothing like the first one. A one o’clock start, one of a crowded slate, which is where an edge is easiest to find and hardest to notice. Our view: the number will move more than the matchup warrants.

Division game. The loser does not just drop one, it hands over the tiebreaker as well. The Titans come off a bye, which buys a fortnight of preparation for one opponent. The rest is worth less than people think; the extra week of film is worth more. Our read: the total tells you more about what the books expect than the side does.

In conference. No rematch, no head-to-head to settle, just a number in a column that decides a bye in January. Under a roof that opens when it suits, so the forecast is a choice rather than a condition. Our view: the public will be on one side of this by Friday, and that is worth knowing before Sunday.
