Colorado Rockies vs Atlanta Braves Picks and Predictions April 29th 2025

Atlanta Leans on Veterans While Colorado Continues Youth Movement

The Atlanta Braves are starting to look like contenders again — not just because of their recent form, but thanks to the return of two key contributors from their 2021 World Series run. With Ian Anderson and Eddie Rosario back in the fold, Atlanta continues a three-game series Tuesday night in Denver against the struggling Colorado Rockies.

Anderson, who pitched a World Series gem three years ago, was claimed off waivers from the Angels and rejoined a Braves club that has now won eight of its last 10. Rosario, the 2021 NLCS MVP, also re-signed and adds a reliable left-handed bat off the bench as Atlanta looks to solidify its depth for the long haul.

The Braves took the opener of the series 6-3 on Monday, continuing to climb after a sluggish start. Manager Brian Snitker remains calm amid early-season fluctuations.

“If it wasn’t the first two weeks of the season, if this happened in June or July, it wouldn’t be a big deal,” Snitker said, downplaying concerns from Atlanta’s slow start.

The Rockies, meanwhile, enter Tuesday with the worst record in baseball. Their pitching staff has been a glaring issue — Colorado starters are a combined 2-18, and the bullpen has struggled to keep games close.

They’ll turn to German Marquez (0-4, 9.30 ERA) in the second game of the series. The veteran right-hander recently notched his 1,000th career strikeout but has surrendered 21 earned runs across his last four starts. Historically, he’s struggled against the Braves with a 6.65 ERA in four appearances.

Atlanta has not yet named a starter for Tuesday.

Rockies Leaning on Youth as Amador Shows Promise

The Rockies are embracing a youth movement out of necessity, carrying six rookies and welcoming five MLB debuts so far this season. One of the bright spots is 22-year-old Adael Amador, who made waves over the weekend with his first career home run and a 3-for-4 outing against Cincinnati. He followed up with a double in Monday’s loss to Atlanta.

“He’s learning every day,” said Rockies manager Bud Black. “There’s a difference between the speed of players in the majors and in the minors, but it’s still the same game.”

Colorado is hoping its young core can develop quickly, but the learning curve has been steep.
