The Chicago Bulls was founded on January 16, 1966, the team joined the NBA for the 1966-67 season. The franchise struggled for the better part of a quarter century, occasionally putting excellent teams on the court, such as the tough units of the mid-1970s that featured Bob Love, Norm Van Lier, Jerry Sloan, and Tom Boerwinkle. More often, however, the Bulls worked hard for mediocre results. That all changed in the mid-1980s with the drafting of Michael Jordan, the dominant player of his era and possibly the greatest player of all time.

Prior to the inception of the Bulls organization, two pro teams had failed in Chicago. Alter, the chief historian at the Chicago History Museum, the name was a nod to Chicago’s meatpacking industry—the city was once known as the “hog butcher of the world.” Though the industry was waning in Chicago by the 1960s, the Bulls played their first season at International Amphitheater, which was in the meatpacking district and bumped up against the Union Stock Yards. The Bulls have maintained a consistent look throughout the franchise’s history. The team has never changed its logo or the design of their shorts and have made only a few relatively minor adjustments to their jerseys.

The Bulls have used the same basic uniform template since the team’s inaugural season, with diamonds at the bottom of each side of the shorts containing the Bulls logo, and a simple jersey unadorned with side panels or striping of any kind. 1. Cleveland Cavaliers

The Bulls–Cavaliers have played each other since the Cavaliers joined the NBA as an expansion team in 1970, but the rivalry didn't begin in earnest until the Bulls drafted Michael Jordan with the third overall pick in 1984. After Jordan would go on to the Washington Wizards and eventually retire, the rivalry died down, but when Cleveland picked LeBron James with the first selection in 2003, the rivalry heated up again. However, the Cavaliers had an edge on the Bulls, who would pick Derrick Rose with the first selection in 2008 to turn Chicago from a lottery team, to a future contender. 

2. Detroit Pistons

The Bulls' main division rivals have been the Detroit Pistons ever since the Jordan-led Bulls met the "Bad Boy" Pistons in the 1988 Eastern Conference semifinals. The two teams met in the playoffs four consecutive years, with the Pistons winning each time until 1991. The Eastern Conference Finals in 1991 ended with a four-game sweep of the Pistons, who walked off the floor with time still on the game clock.  The rivalry was renewed in the 2007 Eastern Conference Semifinals, in which former Detroit cornerstone Ben Wallace met his former team (the Pistons won in 6 games). The geographic proximity and membership in the Central Division further intensify the rivalry, which has been characterized by intense, physical play ever since the teams met in the late 1980s. Chicago fans' rivalry with Detroit extends past the NBA, as the two cities shared divisions in all four major North American sports until 2013 when the Detroit Red Wings moved to the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference.

What is the Chicago Bulls Agenda for future matches?

The Bulls revamped their entire roster over the last several months. There may not be a team in the NBA that has made as many significant moves in the previous year. Chicago brought in Lonzo Ball, DeMar DeRozan, Nikola Vucevic, and Alex Caruso to help make them somewhat of a contender in the Eastern Conference. Keeping Zach LaVine and making him happy is a priority as he is a budding star in the NBA. Patrick Williams and Coby White also will remain on the Bulls. 

The starting lineup will feature Lonzo Ball, DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, Patrick Williams, and Nikola Vucevic on this highly competitive Bulls roster.

Chicago decided to go in a completely different direction than what it had been doing when it traded for Nikola Vucevic and did a sign-and-trade with the New Orleans Pelicans for Lonzo Ball and the San Antonio Spurs for DeMar DeRozan. The Bulls also signed Alex Caruso in free agency. 

They could execute all of this without giving up Zach LaVine, Coby White, or Patrick Williams, which should be considered a massive win for the Bulls. Suddenly, Chicago becomes an instant threat in the Eastern Conference to knock out a team for their spot in the playoffs. LaVine is coming off of his best season averaging 27.4 points, five rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game on 50.7% from the field and 41.9% from behind the arc. These stats are eye-popping and should be frightening for opposing teams when considering the Bulls’ depth. 

LaVine no longer has to carry the Bulls every game and instead can rely on Lonzo Ball to distribute and Vucevic and DeRozan to help score. Additionally, Chicago has Patrick Williams, who should take another step forward this year after showing some promise this past season. Having Alex Caruso’s energy, IQ, and offensive and defensive prowess will help a great deal also.
