Rockies Look to End Slide Against Braves in Series Finale

The Colorado Rockies are desperate to halt their eight-game losing streak as they face the red-hot Atlanta Braves in the final game of a three-game series on Wednesday afternoon.

Rockies Rotation Struggles Continue

Colorado manager Bud Black didn’t mince words when diagnosing his team’s historic start, pointing squarely at the starting rotation.

From underdogs to juggernauts—analyze all MLB teams today.

“As good as the starting pitching was the first couple weeks, it’s faltered here lately,” Black said. “We’ve got to right the ship on the rotation first of all, to give us a chance in the early part of the game to maybe get some momentum offensively.”

The Rockies fell 8-2 on Tuesday and have now dropped 16 of their last 17 games. Their 4-25 record ties the worst 29-game start in modern MLB history.

Rookie right-hander Chase Dollander (1-3, 7.91 ERA) will take the mound for Colorado. He’s coming off a tough outing against the Royals, allowing five runs over 4 2/3 innings. Dollander has struggled to locate pitches, especially to right-handed batters.

“What I saw today was not real good command of the outside corner to right-handed hitters,” Black said after his last start.

With the Rockies’ form so shaky, reviewing the latest MLB Total Picks may offer angles on whether a slugfest is likely with Dollander back on the hill.

Braves Continue to Roll

Atlanta is playing near-flawless baseball, winning nine of its last 11 games and improving to 18-4 against Colorado since the start of 2022. The Braves racked up 14 hits on Tuesday, with Matt Olson scoring three runs and Michael Harris II knocking in three more.

“Felt like this was the first time I was able to kind of get a little bit of feel back,” Sale said. “I’ve still got some work to do, but this was definitely a step in the right direction.”

Atlanta’s balanced offense also saw contributions from Austin Riley, Ozzie Albies, Sean Murphy, and Eli White, all recording multi-hit games.
