The UTEP Miners went 3-9 against the spread in 2025, and just two FBS teams finished below that. They were underdogs eight times, lost all eight, and covered once.

Three covers

UTEP went 2-10. Against the spread it went 3-9, and four FBS teams finished at the same rate. Two covers came as favorites, 42-17 over UT Martin at -7.5 and 35-17 at Sam Houston at -3.5, the two wins. The third was a 10-27 loss at Texas with 40.5 points.

Underdog eight times, no wins

We would not read much into a short UTEP underdog line. Five of the eight underdog games were lined at 4.5 or less, and the Miners lost all five by more: 16-28 at Utah State, 11-30 to Louisiana Tech, 8-19 to Liberty, 27-30 to Jacksonville State and 31-61 at Delaware. One cover in eight underdog games put them fourth from the bottom among 131 FBS teams that took points at least once. The seven priced underdog games lost all seven units.

Home favorites that lost

The two losses as favorites were both at home and both close: 25-31 to UL Monroe at -215 and 31-34 to New Mexico State at -200. UTEP covered one of six at home. Backing UTEP in all 11 priced games lost 8.01 units; only five FBS teams lost more.

November

UTEP lost its last four games, failed to cover any of them, and lost 4.0 units. The Miners’ games went over seven times, all four November games among them.
