Winning, not covering

VCU went 27-7, and 20 Division I teams finished with a better winning percentage. The line kept pace with them. Over all 34 games the Rams covered 17, and on their own floor they covered 7 of 17 while losing only twice. That 41.2% left 270 Division I sides ahead of them at home.

The moneyline, favored

The two home defeats came at -410 to New Mexico, 81-78 in December, and at -135 to Saint Louis, 71-62 in January.

The longest run of the season was ten straight wins, from 14 January to 17 February, ended by an 88-75 loss at Saint Louis. Then came six more in a row to close: 5-0 in March, 2.47 units on the moneyline, the last three in the Atlantic 10 tournament. The 70-62 final against Dayton made it three wins and three covers against the Flyers.

Saint Louis

Saint Louis is the opponent to remember: two games, two VCU defeats, no covers, a 2-unit loss on the moneyline.

After the season

In the NCAA tournament VCU beat North Carolina 82-78, then lost 76-55 to Illinois.
